On some nights YES. Due to his overall game I would say that he's on the fringe of top 10. Kind of like Pippin. Some may argue that because he can bust out for 30 to 40 at any given time he's better than my boy, Scottie.

In particular order, just guys I think are currently better than Butler. He has been great this year, but just too many other guys out there for him to be top 10. Probably top 15-20

Lebron
Curry
Durant
Westbrook
Davis
Kawhi
C Paul
Anthony-Towns
Cousins
Lillard
Harden

Nope. He was about the 9th man on an Olympic team that seemed like it was missing about 15 guys better. I don't know if he is top 20.

He was also the 9th man on an Olympic team in which it seemed at least 15 guys declined to play.

lol, did he edit Carmelo in? I didn't even see that.

Yes, Butler is also far better than Carmelo.

LTG does not know his NBA very well.

Carmelo was also one of the people that played in front of him on the Olympic team.

Jimmy Butler was down in Harrison Barnes territory as far as playing time.

Glad to see you posting in hoop threads again now that baseball season over.

Minutes on the Olympic team doesn't mean a thing when judging a player on his NBA ability.

Butler and Cousins played virtually the exact same MPG.

Your stance seems...inconsistent at best.

Especially when you consider that the USA team had far more depth at guard or swingman than they did at PF/C.

That's a pretty damn good list. I'm not sure I'd want Butler over any of them.

That is true but some of the guys that you say are better played in front of him though. George Anthony and Klay all were higher on the depth chart than Butler. Irving was also one of the best players on that team also.

Truth be told I am actually rolling with Butler and Gibson this year. Gibson is the best option that they currently have at the 4 spot and I want Butler to be really good because it means that the Bulls will be good. I'm not going to place in that top 10 spot just yet. If I am truly objective he is probably about the 15th best player in the league.

You're probably just jealous of that sweet hair he has going on.

edit:

This guy is lucky to be sitting on an NBA bench.

He's probably right around the 10-12 range this year. He's been great.

Steph Curry
Kevin Durant
James Harden
Russ Westbrook
Anthony Davis
Kawhi Leonard

Jimmy Butler
Karl Anthony-Towns

That is my Top 10. I'm not locked in to the order of my 4-7. But I'm comfortable with the 10 as a whole.

And to clarify, that is the DEFINITIVE LIST.

Yes...you've recently shared your thoughts on that. But thank you for clarifying that you still hold the same opinion that you held 45 hours ago.

Butler has been good but he is a bit of a bumslayer. Anthony outplayed him in 3of 4 games when people on here were saying that he was better. It is hard to say a guy is better when he backed up every guy that I had in front of him. No logic in that

MLB > NHL / NBA > PGA > ATP > NFL

Olympics basketball is going to have loyalty / old boys club. Kobe would have been a starter if he wanted on the team, as an example.
