KCJHoop: "The Bulls aren't involved in the Milos Teodosic talks, per source. This is a rebuild. All about the young players"

Bulls doing this year what they should have done last year. They have to move Wade or find a way for him to get injured. Sure he is cool with either at this point.

Damnit Walt you are smarter than this (though not much) lol. They aren't trying to build around anyone in this team. They are trying to obtain the best draft pick that they can. Top3 over the next couple of years. By that time they will have developed the guys they want to keep and moved the ones that they don't. Add a free agent or 2 and voila Right back at cha!

Lavine? That's the closest guy you can get excited about.

Lavine is a piece but he won't be a No. 1 option. At best a 2nd option but not a legit #1. The key to the deal is Dunn. They need him to become a player and not a dude in the league only because he was a high draft pick.

Hoiberg wants to play fast and that benefits him and Lavine in theory.

Eh but who cares. Chicago and NY have higher expectations due to their markets, prestige, etc. NY is especially squandering all that stuff.

I don't think that's true

I do believe major markets expect their teams to do well. Might be some built-in excuses in places like Orlando, Oklahoma, etc.

I think every case is different and it has nothing to do with market size. Why the fuck would New Yorkers expect the Knicks to be good? They've been terrible for almost 20 years.

New York
Brooklyn
Orlando
New Orleans.
Lakers
Phoenix
Philly too though they are improving
Detroit
Minnesota
Sacramento
Have all been worse franchises than the Bulls over the past 5 years.

Detroit's another one that is unequivocally worse than the Bulls in every way.

I don't know where he is going with that one. Been pushing it for awhile.

The Bulls are a shit show and the future looks murky but there are a lot of franchises that qualify and have been such for much longer than they have.

NY is a premier world city. They should be attracting every star free agent. Mismanagement is preventing that from happening. I assume business is fine over at MSG. The performance should be way better on the court. I mean if I'm CEO over there I want my GM securing contracts with Durant, LBJ, etc. If he's not then I need to get someone in here who can sell NY. Should be the easiest sale in the world to young basketball players.

The Bulls became a dumpster fire once Thibs left. That much is certain.

I think we've seen over the past 20 years the mystique of NY and the Garden is vastly overplayed.

I don't think small market fans have lower expectations. Forget next season, which fanbase do you think expects a great team in 2024 - Spurs or Knicks?

I'll put it a different way. If SA starts sucking I don't think they'll feel as much heat as NY or LA would if/when the Knicks and Lakers start sucking. There's no comparing the media class between NY/LA and SA, not to mention the national focus.

That's debatable but whether they are the "worse run" is relative to other teams in the league. One team hasn't made the playoffs since 04. Another single handedly made the Boston Celtics contenders again. Another has had about 8 coaches in 8 years and hasn't made the playoffs in forever. The Bulls aren't worse than any of the teams that I listed above.

I think this is just a phony narrative we've heard for years but is total bullshit. Again, the Knicks have been terrible for two decades. There doesn't seem like much pressure to change that.

This isn't 1990. The size of the market doesn't matter.

If Dunn is the key to the deal, prepare to be disappointed. He was the throw in on this deal and his performance thus far doesn't have me any sort of excited.

It's only been a year and his former coach hates playing rookies. He looked like a bust but I'm hoping I'm wrong

Rondo will cause issues again because that team isn't going anywhere with Gentry at the helm. Gentry will either be fired at the midpoint or on the hot seat.
