It looks like the run and gun offense we were promised from Iowa State is finally starting to pay dividends. Either Fred has adjusted to the NBA or it was really the petulant trouble makers like Derrick Rose and Jimmy Butler that were sabotaging his offense the entire time. They still don't play defense yet, but the Bulls can worry about that later.....all that being said let's say the following happens in the next three years

Lauri Markkanen plays to his ceiling of a young Dirk Nowitzki
Zach Lavine plays to his ceiling of a Vince Carter(in his prime)
Kris Dunn plays to his ceiling of a slightly poorer mans Gary Payton

Can the Bulls win ( or compete to) a title with Hoiberg as coach?

Let's hope in 3 years Lebron is on the decline, when they are ready to win. Cap planning should be to go all in for Giannis in 2021.

He looks better coaching a younger roster and his system. They don't have any expectations so the game is a little easier but I'm encouraged.

Let's see with Dunn, Lauri, and lavine can do this season. On its face it still feels like an elite Superstar is needed to truly be a title contender... And the bulls have no path to get that piece

With reasonable cost control on Dunn, Lauri and Lavine they can keep a max salary slot open.

Probably doesn't hurt that there aren't entitled veterans undermining him at every turn.

Still, he's an A-B coach imo.

I understand what you guys are saying about the lottery pick this year, but there is no guarantee there is a superstar in this draft. Good article on "tanking/rebuilding"...spoiler..it's pretty much luck

Markkanen might already be that piece.

I wouldn’t rule it out yet. Dunn, Lavine, and Markkanen could be a great core to join.

Markkaken could be a really special player and don't rule out the NBA rigging the lottery for the Bulls.

so your plan is Garpax will be able to successfully recruit an elite talent to take significantly less money to sign in chicago? Track record on that is not good

We know how hard Jerry went after LeBron and we know he always gets who he wants. 44 year old Lebron James in a Bulls uniform is a lock.

They’re gonna make it difficult. Looks like they won’t be a bottom 10 team.

They have three guys with obvious star potential anyways. Even picking top 5 is unlikely to get them someone as encouraging as Marrkanen.

I think this is overblown. Many teams tried and struck out at the big fish. They have been able to next tier of FA's(all star caliber, the Boozers, the Ben Wallace's) It doesn't mean you stop trying...

I agree. I don't think tanking is an option now and I'm fine with that. We have our guys. Let's develop them and add another encouraging piece in this draft hopefully.

Zach Lavine is certainly capable of putting up 25 PPG with shoddy defense.

He thinks David Nwaba is Kawhi 2.0. It's his NBA bit.

Crazy to see how opinions on the guy have changed. From being pissed that he was picked to thinking he could be an elite player.

Well that's most rookies once you get half a season of film on them. The draft would look ridiculously different if redone today.

In terms of Hoiberg I have no clue about him. Last year he looked in way over his head. This year he looks competent. Is he a guy that could win a championship? My gut says that he is a good guy to have with these young guys but as the team develops and they get in a position to hopefully contend you are going to need a different voice.

People who followed Arizona last year said Lauri wasn't in a college system that allowed him to flourish/dominate.fwiw.

I guess he could have gotten the ball more because he was their best player but Miller let him put up a good number of shots. Pretty sure he was their leading scorer.
