Was never officially determined, or at least made public. Today would have been his birthday, so there are some posts about him of course.

Was there any rumor ever that is was more than just probably a cause related to his heart disease? I wonder if one of our past-his-prime, locked-in Chicago Bulls fans like Nas ever heard anything about it.

I personally witnessed him drink an entire fifth of Jack Daniels during 18 holes of golf and then continue at dinner.

I assumed that could have led to some health issues.

I'm pretty sure that it was drug related. I don't remember exactly what I heard though.

there were a lot of hushed-tone references implying suicide or overdose, though not sure what it matters.

Heart disease / failure + drugs usually equals TEAM COCAINE.

I remember him hosting on 1000 all fucked up one Sunday in maybe 02 or 03. He was throwing out trivia questions promising vacations if people got the answer correct. The producer/cohost had his wife call in to talk to him. It was Joe Cain levels of bizarre.

As a high school kid, I saw him while working the Rolling Stones concert and I'm confident his was high as hell when he walked through the door.

I always loved Norm during that horrendous Bulls run during the early 2000's. He could make the telecast somewhat enjoyable. Wish he were alive today to torch this shit show currently on the court.

He gave a speech at my High School (circa 1997?) where be basically just screamed at us for 30 minutes calling us "punks".

That would have been awesome.

We only got Bill Wennington at my school, and he basically just answered questions about how awesome Michael Jordan was at basketball.

He was the black drunk uncle/70's playa who liked to rhyme everything they said. I was a fan.

At an ESPN outing, he was literally hugging and tonguing the ear of one of the female interns at dinner.

I felt bad for the girl. She was laughing about it but it was a different time.

Denis Savard was also there hammered out of his mind.

It was a weird scene.

Yes, he was entertaining. Those post-games were the only post-games, in any sport, that I really ever made a point to watch.

Forgot about Bob Love. He came around to my school once also. I think he's been wearing the same NBA logos leather jacket for 40 years now.

I used to run into Bob Love wearing his Bulls leather jacket in my old neighborhood a lot as a kid/young adult. I don't think he was doing well financially as a Bulls ambassador.

Last season, one of the last home games of the year, he was up in the Harris Club (as I hear he usually his.) I spoke with his wife for awhile. Mostly my girlfriend spoke with her, actually. He still seems exactly the same as 20 years ago.

District 300 was so cheap they could only afford Dickey Simpkins.

I'm just pulling your legs. they'd never allow a black person to speak to the class.

Young Furious watched Stormin' honked down some big rails in a private bar area when he was the coach of the Rockford Lightning.

He was the guest speaker my junior year of high school for our region basketball banquet. He was quite the character, and I am pretty sure he had been drinking before his speech.

I'm relatively sure the cause of his death was due to his heart ceasing to function properly.

I thought it was clear that he sadly took his own life. Not sure if it makes a difference what method was used.

I met him at a party once in the late 90s—he was super friendly and fun to hang out with. I recall that he thought really highly of himself as a player—objectively he was not as great historically as he believed.
