Do they show Longley surfing or am I thinking of the wrong guy? I'm pretty sure its him.

No surfing but they do have him swimming in a Speedo. It’s artistically erotic.

He's an ugly guy no matter how much he changes his style. I particularly liked the bald look where his shriveled head made him look like a shar pei

That was really good. Watch the extra 30 minute MJ interview.

MJ is a psycho and it is interesting to see that play out.

But Luc is a guy like a Frank or a Dr. Ken living in that world that just observes and sees what happens.

It is The Last Dance for The Rest of Us.

(also old Luc looks a lot like Chus).

Yes, MJ is a phycho killer. But that's why we won 6.

There would be nobody caring about a "Luc Longely story" without MJ.

12 other mediocre centers in the NBA could have been a part of that 2nd 3 peat. Just like Bill Cartright got to be the mediocre center for the first 3 peat. Why don't we get the Bill Cartright story?

I want to hear the Jud Buchler story god damnit!!!!

If Bill or Jud was the most notable athlete from his country, each would have a documentary about them. This was produced by Australian TV.

I’ll echo the doctor…if you watch the doc, make sure you watch the 30 min Jordan interview afterwards.

Somehow I watched the interview first.

He was so transparently trying to be nice about Luc that it came off as disingenuous. All of his complements were specific to things that helped MJ - nothing really about Luc, just how Luc was around to help MJ be great.

The story about the regular season Jazz game showed what he really thought of Longley.

 Exactly why the interview was NOT disingenuous. Jordan sees and judges everything thru "MJ colored" glasses.

He was trying to be really gracious, but he didn't owe Luc anything. He didn't really know Luc because his sole focus was on winning. I didn't have an issue with that, but I think Jordan has begun second guessing his methods.

No doubt he sees everything thru those glasses.

But the segment where he said Luc mattered and he would want Luc on his team if he had to do it all over again was about as complimentary as MJ can be and it seemed pretty genuine.

Him doing the interview says something. He’s great. Quite naturally was great too.

Definitely for the second 3-peat. It sure seemed genuine. As Spaulding said, MJ quite naturally did not have to do an interview for Australian TV.

I think MJ and Phil both know/knew Luc played a vital role against the big men of the opposing teams.

Yeah, that’s probably fair.

The edited doc v. the unedited interview was interesting. In the doc, Jordan said something along the lines of his agreement to sit for the interview came because ‘Luc mattered.’ End scene. In the interview, it was more like ‘Luc mattered because he helped me be better and my greatness exists in part because of the small people around me.’

Edit: missed RFDC’s post, so wasn’t intentionally undercutting his point. I’d have done that had I read the post first, but just want to level set given the universal understanding that intentions matter more than outcome.

Have about 10 minutes left in this, but Luc is a seems like a real grounded individual.

There's a lot of self evaluation and reflection he does. Seems like a well adjusted individual at this point in his life who can talk quite honestly about who he is now, and who he was in the past. In a way I'm envious, I wish I was as comfortable in my own skin as Luc appears.

This. He was having trouble keeping his stories straight.

MJ didn’t see himself as one of the guys. He openly called his teammates his “supporting cast”.

Exactly, if MJ didn't make it about himself that would be disingenuous. That would be MJ not being MJ.
