Nerve issue, my ass.

Somewhat laughable reading the NBA "experts" talking about orthopedic injuries, they reported the injury as a "MCL tear" and then talked about it being a meniscus injury, anyone with even a rudimentary knowledge of anatomy knows that the MCL (medial collateral ligament) is in fact by its very name a ligament that runs on the medial aspect of the knee. The meniscus is totally separate, thinking that the writer types who were not smart enough to do anything in the medical field would have at least had the curiosity to get the anatomy correct?

Have thought all along that this was similar to the Cohen injury where the initial injury was far worse than first suspected and that they likely missed diagnostic data by misreading the initial MRI's or by not consulting a top knee specialist initially. The initial Cohen injury involved a tibial plateau fracture which they of course never divulged, and I don't think Cohen was advised well by the team or by his agent, so he never said how bad the injury was which made both him and the Bears look like idiots.

The biggest problem with sports for profit entities is that they are invested in getting the athletes back quickly and employ doctors that have the teams best interests in mind, and are dealing with young and vulnerable people that lack the ability to understand the diagnosis and treatment plan that is being presented to them and do not have anyone in their lives to advise them.

The Ball kids dad is a raging idiot who likely could not grasp even the most rudimentary explanation of his kids injury, so the kid was likely not given any good advice on how to proceed.

He had a second scope last September. A second misdiagnosis seems unlikely, doesn't it?

Hearing nerve damage, that would seem an odd outcome from a scope? They are obviously never going to tell you what really happened.

Does sound more and more like the Tarik Cohen case where the initial injury was far worse than the team said, felt bad for Cohen because it made it seem like he was not healing fast enough, but in reality he had suffered a tibial plateau fracture which requires a much longer recovery time than a knee ligament repair.

So he had a scope and it wasn't right. Then he had a second scope and it wasn't right. And now he has a secret injury? I don't get any of this. I don't get the cloak and dagger, unless he's getting ready to sue somebody.

If his surgery was botched and he has nerve damage, it's almost certain he will sue the surgeon, or take the insurance buy out which I think most of the players have written into their contracts.

Once a case gets complicated they usually get second or even third opinions from one of the top knee specialists in the country, wondering if Ball's pappy had his a guy he wanted to use, but then again the Bulls medical people have a history of massive screw ups, so maybe the original surgery was botched.

Recently watched a youtube where he's had several doctors look at it. Nada on what has caused his pain. Could be he's doctor shopping for a lawsuit, could be it's been found out and it's hush hush for a lawsuit, could be they legit don't know what happened, could be Lonzo's a scumbag, looking for insurance payout and lawsuit and generational money while not working for it.

I don't think the 4th year of his deal is guaranteed. Thank god for that. Trade him in the off season or next season as an expiring contract and move on.

A lawsuit is coming. The Bulls medical staff should be banned. How many players have they fuck up?

I think Ball had his own doctors perform one of them.

I don't care about that but I find it hilarious "the best doctors in the world" can't do a basic scope without fucking someones life over. And I feel so vindicated. How many times someone asked me in a condescending way "why don't you go to the doctor for that?!'. Because I want to get better bitch. 100% convinced if ball never had the surgery to begin with he would be playing with 100% health right now.

What would it change? No play in game? Is there a myth growing about the coulda been great Lonzo Ball? He's alright, but he's no game changer. He was Ben Simmons-like inside the 3.

Unfortunately, the Bulls record with him early last season (when they were bumslaying) made people think he was the key to greatness.

More pity from Spiegel and Parkins today -- "he's such a great kid, I feel so bad for him, he likely won't get another massive contract, etc." As if the $80m he already got (and hasn't earned) isn't generational wealth. And he'll only be 27 when he heals (in theory). Still a better life financially than 99.999999% of people.

Ball's legend has grown the more people have had to watch his backups hold down the spot. What i wouldn't do to have a Kris Dunn right now. AK should have signed him for low low price as Ball's insurance.

Yep.

No person has ever had this particular surgery and ever returned to play basketball.

https://www.chicagotribune.com/sports/b ... story.html

Quote:
Cartilage transplants are rare in professional sports. The procedure is relatively new, designed as a step down from a full knee replacement to maintain the integrity of the knee joint. No NBA player has undergone a cartilage transplant and returned to the court

“There’s nothing that’s out there that says that, ‘Hey, here’s how guys have come back and been able to respond to this,’” Donovan said. “But I do know that Lonzo — just based on the information he was able to gather from different sets of doctors making the decision — felt like this was the best chance to be able to get him back on the court.

“I think we all understand that’s going to be an uphill battle for him, but I know that he’s going to do everything possible in his rehab to get himself back on the court.”

But the Bulls also know this procedure is a reflection of desperation. For Ball, the goal isn’t just to reclaim his starting role with the Bulls — it’s to get back on the court at all.

Chicago Bulls’ Lonzo Ball expected to start running in January: ‘The pain that he was experiencing has been eliminated’
Lonzo Ball is expected to begin running again in January as the next step of his nearly two-year-long recovery process from a knee injury.
Ball returned to Chicago last week to meet with Bulls staff and outline a plan for the next steps of his recovery after undergoing a rare cartilage transplant in March.
Ball has been able to progress with weight and mobility training and stationary shooting while recovering in Los Angeles over the past six months. Most importantly, Donovan said Ball is pain-free at this point in his recovery after suffering chronic pain in everyday activities for the first year after the injury. If Ball does not experience pain when he returns to running in January, he will be closer to a return to the court than he’s been since January 2022.

The "Best" of Lonzo Ball was 13 and 4 with 40% from 3 shooting. The Paw gives you that now (swapping rebounds for assists) and MANY here believe he's a bust. Bulls should have signed Jalen Brunson (whom I told them over 3 years ago was the much better player) and not looked back. Instead we are left clamoring for a guy who was no more than the 4th or 5th best player even when he was good.

You do realize these stats are readily available, right?

PAW (2023-2024) 34 games played, 10.4 pts/g, 40.3% 3-pt, 4.1 reb, 1.5 ast, 0.9 stl
Lonzo Ball (2021-2022) 35 games played, 13.0 ppg, 42.3% 3-pt, 5.4 reb, 5.1 ast, 1.8 stl.
