Rose vs Ball
Hamilton vs Lavine
Deng vs DeRozan
Boozer vs Patrick Williams/Green
Noah vs Vucevic

Bench mob (Korver, Brewer, Gibson) vs Caruso, Ayo, Jones, White, etc.

I like the grit of the 2010-11 team, best embodied by guys like Deng, Gibson, and Noah, and I like the dynamic playmaking of this year's team. The thing we lacked in 2010 was guy who could create his own shot besides Rose, which is why I hated the Hamilton signing. Such a dumbass thing to do. This year we've got three guys who can get their own shot and it's awesome to see. Four if you count White.

If we can add some more grit before the deadline I think I'd take this team over Rose's team.

Definitely has been an upgrade on the coaching side. Billy D over Thibs any day of the week.

2010 Bulls had a better bench and a true superstar. This team has 3 stars but none are superstars. I'd take Vuc over Noah. I'd take Derozan over Deng also. Boozer is better than anyone the Bulls have at the 4. Lavine and Keith Bogans is a non starter and Rose is a huge upgrade over Ball. Bulls 2010 have a huge edge in terms of bench.

As much as I like this team I'd probably go 2010 Bulls based upon overall talent. Probably would be tougher than first thought however. I need to see what AK does at buyout time. Slight tweaking of the roster and this team will be favorites in the East imo. Good players on expiring deals will want to seek to sign here now whereas they didn't before.

I think this team is more talented offensively and less talented defensively. Rose is the best player out of both teams, but Rose/Deng/Boozer or Noah are losing a pickup game against Vuc/DeRozan/Lavine. There are more options on this team than the 2010 Bulls ever had. Against the Heat, when LBJ shut Rose down, you had nowhere to go. Today, if DeRozan is covered or cold, you go to Lavine. If he's covered well, you go to Vuc. If you need some instant offense, you get White to come off the bench. This team can score in ways the 2010 team could only dream about. That was the one thing holding us back that season (non-Rose scoring).

In 2010 Keith Bogans was the starting 2 and not Rip Hamilton. That makes a big difference when evaluating the 2 squads

Either way they're inferior to Lavine though.

Dropoff from Lavine to Hamilton is significantly less than the dropoff from Lavine to Bogans. Hamilton in his prime would have been a good comp. for Lavine. Even the 2010 version was a solid player if healthy. Bogans was never a comparison for Lavine. Big difference

Hard disagree on Hamilton. His prime is irrelevant here because when he got to the Bulls he was washed up. I never liked the signing. No way Lavine in 2022 and Hamilton on the bulls is close. Lavine was a 9th ranked MVP candidate on NBA.com as recently as last week. Hamilton sucked ass, predictably. Never trust a screen reliant dude as your second best player on offense. That means you don't have any offense after no 1.

The difference between 2010 Hamilton and Keith Bogans was immense. Hamilton wasn't great at that time but Bogans was trash. They didn't even have to guard him on offense. avg something like 4 pts per game. Hamilton could still play at that point. He just couldn't stay healthy. Bogans was never good.

Point is moot anyway. Hamilton was never on that 2010 team. Bogans was however.

I don't have a problem with Hamilton vs Bogans. Bogans was a D specialist anyway. Hamilton sucked as a FA signing.

Pretty much this.

To LTGs point I like the coaching more on this team than I did Thibs, but the bench for the that team kills this one.

I dont know that we can go to the place of saying Rose was "significantly" better. Derozan and Lavine are pretty damn good right now. Rose was better, but I don't think it is as big of a gap as some think.

Agrees.

Rose vs DeRozan goes to Rose
Rose vs Lavine goes to Rose. That might change next year.

But

Rose/Deng/Boozer vs DeRozan/Zach/Vuc goes to the latter.

2010 was deeper but this team is more top heavy.

Caruso, Ayo and White are pretty damn good. Short, but good. Add a banger and it's even imo.

And the Bulls 2nd and 3rd best players on this year's team is better than the 2nd and 3rd best players on the 2010 teams. If Lavine is the best player on this team then Derozan is 2nd best. He is better (and might be significantly better) than anyone on that 2010 team. Vuc is better than the 3rd best player as well.

I think it’s worth noting the ‘10-‘11 Bulls won 62 games, had the league MVP and made it to the ECF before losing a reasonably tight series to a super team.

Every game except the Bulls’ win was reasonably close.

One memorably came down to lebron shutting down DRose on a final possession. Another was an OT loss.

Maybe they’ll close out the season with the best regular season record, a 1 seed and an eventual loss in the nfc championship.

That first Thibs team was remarkably healthy, played In a less competitive conference and never had to deal with things like Covid Protocols either

Not to mention that his team played for a coach who believed that he could somehow win a championship in the regular season

I think this thread suggests the bored likes to overreact to teams winning.
