isn't it the HC's job to get the players to buy-in to what the coaching staff is trying to do? I don't think you can be Scott Skiles anymore and browbeat players into submission.

What holds today’s player accountable?

The only Bulls action I watched all year was their comeback against the raptors in that play in game.

The Bulls scored 13 or 15 in a row, without Nurse even calling a TO to disrupt their rythmn. I think he gave up on them before he got fired.

Bulls just need to clear cap space for when Embiid asks out of Philly and Luka demands the Mavs trade him this Summer. Maybe add Dame as well to round out the Bulls championship Big Three.

Is there any scenario where the Bulls could make a compelling offer for Luka?

Bulls are in the Eastern Conference? Hmmm, maybe if the Bulls land the 1st or 2nd pick in this draft they could package it + Zach LaVine for Luka. And Zach would mostly be to make the trade work in terms of salary.

If you got the 1st or 2nd overall in this draft and Mark Cuban or whomever his GM is called and offered Luka for the pick....?

Trading for Luka doesn't make sense if it costs LaVine. LaVine is not a #1, maybe not a #2 on a really good team, but swapping him out for Luka probably only makes the Bulls better, but not in any meaningful way. They would have to find a way to pair them, which means the Bulls are probably not an option.

I think a Hachimura plus another rotation guy (Vanderbilt?) and a draft pick for Derozan would work for me. If Derozan is serious about finishing up in L.A. then I think L.A. would definitely go for it. Type of trade that works for both teams

I agree. In fact it pretty much has to be DeRozan in any meaningful trade.

Must have told the owner he can get 2 starters and a draft pick for DeMar.

Yeah. Described as an athletic freak with the highest vertical in the draft. His NBA comp on one site: Derrick Jones

Moving into the second round in the NBA is like trading for a 7th round pick in the NFL. Who cares. Probably would be more productive to spend three months in the pro ball gyms of Eastern Europe.

Couldn't agree more. And surprised actually, since the GM is a Lugan.

The Bulls are doomed to suck for the foreseeable future. They are close to a luxury tax before the year starts and they have done nothing.

The needs of the Bulls offseason mirrors the same needs of the next White Sox offseason.

Quote:
CHICAGO -- The Chicago Bulls have applied for a disabled player exception for guard Lonzo Ball, who is expected to miss the entire 2023-24 season, a source confirmed to ESPN on Sunday.

If granted by the NBA the exception would be worth about half of Ball's salary (around $10.2 million) and it allows a team to replace a player who is out for the season. The Bulls would be allowed to trade or claim a player only in the final year of their contract or sign a free agent to a one-year deal.

However, adding a player does affect the team's salary cap hit. Chicago is currently $9 million below the luxury tax, according to ESPN's Bobby Marks.

Bulls vice president Arturas Karnisovas said on draft night that the team did not expect Ball, who has not played since Jan. 2022, to return for this upcoming season. Ball underwent cartilage transplant surgery in March.

The Bulls have already agreed to a pair of contracts with guards since free agency began: Coby White to a three-year, $40 million deal and free agent Jevon Carter on a three-year, $20 million contract.

The team has also expressed interest in re-signing guard Ayo Dosunmu, who is a restricted free agent.

The Athletic first reported the Bulls applying for the exception

this arturas took his shot and it failed miserably. there's no fixing this anytime soon. save for some miracle 2nd round pick like joker was for denver.

AK did say to look at the team post free agency before making any judgements.

They essentially appear to be bringing back the same roster with the addition of another fringe starter at PG and a low end shooter. So, a few more shooters, maybe an open competition at PG, but the same core roster.

Anyone excited?
