Same with Nate Robinson.

Also...John Lucas III mention. Awesome...

Oh and McDermott is nothing like Kevin Love.

Augustin was the only guy who could score. Even Thibs acknowledged that Augustin was a big reason for their turnaround.

Also, there is obviously a balance between coaching up young guys during a season and still being able to win 55+ games. Popovich doing the former without doing the latter wouldn't earn much praise. Also, he's probably the best basketball coach who ever lived. Might be a high standard to hold Thibs to. And it's also not really fair to Butler and Leonard to credit their coaches for most of their development. Both are extremely hard workers and Leonard has shown star potential since his rookie season. He was too good not to play. McDermott is not.

I think Thibs has Popovich potential. He's proven that during the past few seasons.

He does. But that was like saying Kobe had Jordan potential in 1999. He never got there. Thibs probably won't either. It's an extremely high bar.

Well that is simply because Vinny Del Negro is a way better coach than Tom Thibodeau.
Nas, seriously, are you even a Bulls fan? Or just a fan of a couple players that happen to play on the local team? Why are you rooting for minor successes for lesser players over the successes of the entire team?

The Chicago Bulls don't exist to help rookies transition into the NBA. This isn't the D-League. The Bulls are out to win. McDermott cannot help the Bulls win right now, so he doesn't play.

I don't need you to lecture me on why the Bulls exist or to prove where my loyalties lie. Bottom line is Thibs can't have a 7 or 8 man rotation in the regular season. That's just too many minutes for the starters. Also he's been forced to depend on guys in the playoffs that he's refused to play during the season (John Lucas III/Marco Belinelli/Nate Robinson/Jimmy Butler). Jimmy Butler and others developed because they got minutes. D.J. Augustin proved he was a great option and it took Thibs a while to stick with him. Mirotic isn't making as many errors because he's been given more time (due to injuries). You have to teach the kids in practice and give them time to apply it in games. It will make the Bulls stronger when the season really matters. Look at how that works for Popovich.

Someone ought to lecture you! Thibs gives minutes when he thinks players earn minutes.....do you thimk he will rest his starting line up like Pop? If you do you my sir are a dunder head

Can't complain at all. I've ate and drank pretty good for the past 3 or 4 days.

I agree. And I know you weren't saying he would be similar to Love immediately. We both have our thoughts on him written here. We'll see. I certainly haven't seen anything from him yet to change my mind.

He was deadly in the summer league and looked okay during the preseason when he played more minutes. At one point some people were wondering if Thibs would start him. He seemed to really like him and go out of his way to praise his game.

Devean George was a summer league legend and everybody knows how worthless preseason is. We're seeing his very limited game right now, when it actually matters.

He's struggling to find a rhythm and he appears to be rushing things offensively. I still think he'll be fine but he has a lot of work to do. I like him and Mirotic. I think Mirotic has star potential. He's going to be a match up problem for everyone.

uh. Devean George was quite a decent role player. He had three very good years for the Lakers.

Only 8 players have played more than 3 mins.

FF you have to like what you see from Mirotic.

I didn't watch today's game. He's a good rebounder. Every other facet of his game needs work, and his defense is abysmal. I don't think he's worth his contract right now. Hopefully he improves rapidly on that end.

He is a matchup nightmare for the defense. Whenever he figures it out he will be more than worth it.

Should be clubhouse leader for ROTY at the moment.

http://www.chicagonow.com/chicago-bulls ... a-mirotic/

His per 36 is now:

13.7 PPG, 9.6 RPG, 2.2 APG, 1 SPG, 1.6 BPG. And his fouls are coming down!

42.7% FG and 40% 3P. Both are climbing.

To be fair, I pegged Dougie Mc-Euro-Buckets McDermott a bust before he even had the Bulls cap firmly in place on draft day.

College and NBA have diverged to the point where success in the former is mostly irrelevant to success in the latter.

3 minutes a game is too high. This guy has zero hops (1 two-handed, driving directly at the bucket off of a steal dunk in all that video), looks like he's dribbling in quicksand on his drives and can only hit 3's off of wide-open, clean looks.

I guess if Steve Alford can get drafted in the 1st round, it's not that surprising.

I do need to see more of Dougie on the NBA level, but his shot was blocked too many times. Dont know if he is not quick enough or no elevation. But its why he is sitting.

He also doesn't know spacing on offense, or positioning on defense.

I think he's sitting because he can't play defense.
