That is a shockingly reasonable package for de Haan, whom I always liked with Long Island.

I don't get why Carolina would make this deal? Seems pretty stupid. Are they shedding salary?

Both halves of their goalie platoon are UFA and Scott Darling is headed for a buyout. They need to make sure there's a name on the depth chart. But I wouldn't rule out the salary shedding; hockey in Raleigh doesn't make any money.

The Hurricanes desperately needed a backup goalie with Mrazek finishing up a one year prove it deal, and Darling having imploded in Charlotte and probably being bought out.

Plus the Hurricanes needed to shed some salary. They have some guys due for some increases and are going to have to replace some other UFA/RFA.

With the Predators receding into the distance, I'm looking forward to the Hurricanes reigning as the team the shitty reddit/HFboards fans never shut up about. Did you know they invented liking hockey? Take that, Toronto!

To all of the hockey fans smarter than I (and that's pretty much everyone here)....

Thank you for confirming that this was a good trade for the Hawks.

Yeah, the Bulls reserve Saturday nights and the Hawks reserve Sundays and usually Fridays. Think it's been like that since the Stadium. Same thing happens to the Rangers, where they only get, like, Mondays and Wednesdays. Conversely, there are maybe two Saturdays where the Maple Leafs aren't at home and on the CBC.

And those two are in Montreal and Ottawa...and still on the CBC....gotta be there for Don Cherry to make Ron MacLean uncomfortable while talking about how there are too many damn Europeans and not enough good 'ol Ontario boys on the ice for the Leafs.

More misses than hits.
Tallon assembled the pieces for the 3 cups.
I wouldn't say I'm apoplectic....just struggling to believe he'll bring the Hawks back.

I don't disagree, but I would like to see what he can do without Q. I think Q's idea of a hockey team was starting to become archaic here.

I've been critical of Stan, but I can't complain about the string of moves he has made starting with the Strome trade.

He even turned Brandon Manning into a useful winger

Thought there might be a shot the Lightning try to replace Yzerman with Scotty's son. The elder Bowman's already a fixture at Lightning home games.

Boy, that's a lot of money for a third-liner who was never built to last. Hope the picks weren't too high.

Blackhawks sent a 2020 second-round pick, a 2020 seventh-round pick and a 2021 third-round pick to the Canadiens to nab Shaw along with a 2021 seventh-round pick from Montreal.

2 and 7 in 2020 and a 3 in 2021 is what I saw. Don’t like.
