Even counting the returning Saad I am struggling to find the player that Bowman had to get rid of for cap reasons that is a league leader in anything.

Not a league leader but Danault sure would look good as the #3 center this year. Let's see what Darling does this season.

Or are they? If they get hurt, how much cap $$ would they get for a trade?

True. They would get some relief but you are not going to replace their talent.

At least the Hawks are not hosting the draft any time soon so Bowman will be allowed to trade their #1 pick if needed.

How many faceoffs did Vermette win with that last cup? He won that cub, IMO because of that.

He was certainly far more integral then the average fan realizes.

This is where I started to dislike Q. He totally misplayed him that year. And a reason when he was released this past season, he didn't resign here.

Q's misplaying and under playing of people has been getting more pronounced and more noticeable. If they are a first round out again, I can see him getting bounced next year.

Look no further than Trevor Daley. Q could not find a way to play him. He helped a great deal in last two Pens cups. Maybe it was because Curious Hair also hated him?

I'm still not convinced that Scotty Bowman isn't the real eye for talent in the organization.

Barring something relatively crazy like winning the Cup next year, I'd say Quenneville's days as a Hawk are numbered regardless.

Vermette was very, very comfortable in Phoenix and didn't want to be traded here in the first place. It was no surprise he went back. Doan, Michalek, Vrbata, Vermette, they all kept coming back to stay in their comfortable rut.

Vermette's wife had a baby. He was happy to come here, win a Cup and go back for a year after the baby was born.

If he wanted easy money and no pressure, he wouldn't have done a two year deal with the Ducks.

Anaheim isn't easy money and no pressure? I mean, they're a contender every year, but nobody will bother you there. It's a country club.

Don't forget Dave Bolland and Mike Ribeiro!

Especially Pronger. :P

Asked for a buyout and left. So I'm guessing the answer was no.

I always have fond memories of him. Like Cashman said, I don't think the Hawks win the last Cup without him.

I think Bowman knows talent. I just think Q fucks it up with his old school ways. His team is not the fastest on the ice any more, and he seems not to be able to adapt. Which makes Bowman's job harder.

Agreed on both counts.

A great coach gets it done with the players he has. The fact that Sullivan won a couple cups and turned around Daley's game to the point that he got him overpaid by Detroit says a lot. Q couldn't get anything out of Daley and they ultimately had to give him away and take back a dead Scuderi.

I agree with JOR- Q's days are numbered in Chicago.

That has to be one of the hardest ones to watch. How the fuck do you give up a guy who go and wins 2 cups with another team. At that point, you should self-reflect.

Jon Cooper, Lightning head coach, not under contract?

The Daley stuff is 20/20 hindsight; no one was clamoring for Q's head when they sent him away, although no one was terribly excited that we got Scuderi in return...however, I'm with y'alls in that Q is definitely on the hot seat. I think StanBo has pretty much communicated that in the offseason.

Hard to see Cooper going anywhere now that they locked up all three of his Norfolk/Syracuse boys and at ENORMOUS discounts to boot.

There was no clamoring because Q never gave him a chance. Water under the bridge though now.

There was no clamoring since we trusted the Q's coaching. But there's no getting around the fact that the same player that Q couldn't get to work on the Blackhawks had a major role on the blueline for the team that just won the last 2 Cups. And it wasn't like the Hawks had a stellar defensive corps and couldn't use the help.

Great point....I distinctly remember feeling he was nothing special while with the Hawks. it was clear that Q didn't like him. It is hindsight, but obviously there was value there and Q couldn't get it.

Add in Kempny and Vermette and it's clear Q's teflon has worn off. If the Hawks are another first round playoff exit or worse next season, i would suspect most fans would be fine if he was launched.

I can hardly wait to see how many minutes Patrick Sharp gets....oye.
