Unless you were listening to sports radio between 12-1.

Brandon Saad doesn't move your soul.

Still struggling to find an upside to this terrible Hjalmarsson trade. Affordable contract for an elite defensive defenseman. Why?

Age and control.

I'm all for it. I like Murphy.

Mike Murphy?

NOT FAR ENOUGH!!!!!

That cap hit is good the next 2 years, but awful after age 32/33

Did anyone notice Q not being at the draft or on stage for the draft pick?

He must be shitting himself over hammer. He should love saad though. He wouldn't feel so bad about losing hammer if the young cats on d were game ready....of course that would have required him to play them instead of his dinosaurs.

Yeah, he threw a fit and went home because of the Hjalmarsson trade, for real.

I think so. Q has this approach where it is either his way or the bench. He can not adapt. The whole Daley fiasco was ridiculous.

I don't know, do you? The Hjalmarsson trade only saved them about $300,000 on what's likely an inferior player. Even being up against the ceiling, that's not enough to justify moving a very cap-friendly contract to make yourself worse.

I would disagree. He is younger, and I believe bigger, has room for upside, gave them a 2nd guy in the trade, as well as longer cap control(which could be good or bad).

Trying to sell before the drop off is the only real reason to trade Hammer or because you saw how god awful slow the Hawks have become and this looks like a place you can get some speed. Don't know if Murphy has more speed but Hjalmarsson is not exactly speedy. That being said they need a lot of help all over and I'm bummed that they traded Hammer.

Yeah.. Its not like its a 6 footer being replaced with a 6 foot 5 person. I haven't watched any Coyote Hockey so I know next to nothing about Murphy. And even if he stood out as best player on team (I know he wasn't) its not like he was on a team full of good players.. Who knows, team needs to get younger and faster as much as that is not the slow, aging blueliner that I would want to see go. They are going to have to play a lot of youth next year though, or is Rosival back again.

as a hockey ignoramus, i gotta say that i remember watching an earlier-round hawks playoff game around 2013 and saying to myself "the hawks won tonight because they're the team that has brandon saad" -- so hearing that they got him back, and that he's even younger than atari panerabread? good job there, i reckon.... but even brandon saad Himself isn't a 100% replacement for hossa, more of an upgrade on "pantera" right?

I get where you're coming from. I feel like Murphy is the exception to the rule. Team USA Captain at the worlds, good NHL pedigree. His dad was solid with Boston back in the day.

plus aren't quenneville and ulf samuelsson supposed to coach him up? at least that's the hope i caught from the easily-googled hawks blogosphere that i could dredge up in a few minutes time.

oh and for curious hair i'd recommend that you can start spelling golden boy's name as simply TOES because you're not gonna get Ws when you roll with TOES.

you and the rest of the world that doesn't have center ice. shit, you could technically be from phoenix and there'd be a ~97% likelihood that the quote here would still apply =D

If you watched the playoffs, you know why Hammer had to go. Slow and soft in the corners won't get it done. And for all of the shots he has blocked, he is a very "old" 30.

RLT ... heard no less than three times at the draft that #Blackhawks are looking to bring Sharp back on a cheap Campbell-like 1-year deal.

More comfortable with Rosival-like deal.

I don't mean selling at the peak as high....I mean selling before he takes a very quick descent into bad.

Something of value had to go...that's just cap reality. Sucks it was Hammer, but the logic / rationale is understandable.

Please God, NO, on Sharp and Campbell.
