For one day in Chicago, there will no murders, and prosperity will come to all . Why you ask? The great, beatific, PK Subban is in town and all is right with the world. Tune in at 7:30 and watch Christ on skates work his magic.

Gotta figure the Hawks will come out flying. Hopefully, Smaltz plays. 6-2 Hawks

Guys, you see all this rain here today? Those are God's tears. God's tears that he cries because his real only son, P.K. Subban, has people who don't love him.

Why is it Quenneville's fault Connor Murphy can't justify an everyday spot but Kempny and Rutta can?

The Hawks have enough Right shooting Dmen but clearly are weak on the left side.

Did I not warn you guys that Coyotes/Panthers prospects are vastly overhyped and never contribute as much to contenders as planned?

Q is going to keep doing this as payback for firing Kitchen.

Wouldn't it make more sense as payback for trading Niklas Hjalmarsson?

That hammer deal looks awful now. They didn't really need to do it and this guy either sucks or Q hates him. I can't really tell after 3 games.

What was 2 time cup winner Trevor Daley's issue?

Don't you understand? A defensive specialist who absorbs a great deal of punishment looked bad at the end of a long season. They couldn't have merely held him out of more practices and games! He was literally going to turn into a mound of shit, right there on the ice, in the middle of a shift! We had to trade him for a player who costs almost the same money but has proven absolutely nothing! There was nothing else we could have done!

I definitely think part of the reason is to draw negative attention on Bowman.

Defensemen who freelance as much as Daley does are a bad fit for Quenneville's system, where the defensemen are charged more with flipping the ice and setting up the forwards than with making plays themselves. There are puck-moving defensemen and then there are guys who think they're fourth forwards. With Sullivan's approach of running track meets and challenging teams to keep up or figure out their chaos, Daley worked (and with some of those run-and-gun Stars teams that had fun and finished 9th or 10th of 15), but he wasn't meant to be on a team that needs structure from the blue line.

EDIT: mind you, if the Blackhawks had fallen into Erik Karlsson, I suspect we wouldn't be fretting about a system ill-suited to "fourth forward" defensemen, but Trevor Daley is no Erik Karlsson.

Murphy and Franson should honestly both draw in most nights. You have Rutta and Seabrook on the right hand side already so you scratch either Kempny or Forsling and put a right shooting defenseman on the left side on your 3rd pairing.

I wouldn't scratch Kempny. You need his puck possession. Forsling is still greener than I'd like him to be and I'd scratch him in games where his problems in his own end can burn the team. (That's a catch-22, of course -- he needs the flight miles but you also don't want him jeopardizing anything.) Franson needs more games. Murphy...I just don't see what's there, you guys.

Hawks are now on their fourth consecutive game of not looking very good. Nashville's probably getting a shutout tonight.

Huge night for Saad and Crawford.

Franson has been key in two wins so far. He should probably be close to an everyday player until he proves the contrary.

Hawks also won the faceoff battle tonight, which was a thorn in their side last year against Nashville

The Hawks have been transformed from a finesse team that takes a beating to a team that can score and dish it out.

Yeah, Hayden has a lot going for him. That he knocked Lesser Foligno on his ass was cool too. When Schmaltz comes back and bumps Kero back down, I'd like to see how he does with a little more finish on his line, most likely in the form of Hinostroza.

Still plenty of finesse on this roster (again, more when Schmaltz comes back), but between Saad, Panik, Hartman, Hayden, and even DeBrincat, the forwards are a lot more assertive than they had been before. It's encouraging, but the name of the game is still speed and puck possession.
