Hopefully the kid's hat trick quells the nonsense for the evening.

Yeah that was quite the replay ... I think you're maybe right on the game saver thought.

Good win, but we're still missing a lot of scoring from the big names. You may notice I've laid off Toews this year, but he's on pace for 49, which yikes.

It should be crystal-clear by now that putting DeBrincat in anything but a position to thrive is a terrible waste of his talent. He won't elevate jamokes like Bouma (who at this point should really be gone in favor of Hinostroza, who is point-per-game in RFD), but he'll make the most of playing with quality players.

All I had was my Redskins knit hat, and I wasn’t about to chuck it on the ice. Also, I felt awkward when a group of native Americans performed a dance/song during the second intermission. Good game, even if the IPAs are $13

Seabrook had a little over 16 minute with hardly any PP time. Is this a trend or was it because NY is such a fast team.

No, because he's European. You have to be Americanadian to get Fels's full wrath: Shaw, Seabrook, van Riemsdyk, now apparently Hayden. It's him trying to port Boers & Bernstein's "people like the white guys but not the black guys" to a sport that doesn't really have many black guys, so Europeans become his black guys. He initially loved Viktor Stalberg and David Rundblad, oops. He's still beating off to Teravainen as if his ceiling is still above a second-line wing on a lottery team.

Is Fels the guy that runs and is the de facto host of their podcast or is McClure?

Yeah, Sam's the main guy. McClure and FifthFeather actually have good hockey thoughts on the podcast, Sam just steals Terry Boers bits and bitches about Twitter drama.

EDIT: Come to think of it, other than Subban, most of the NHL's black guys are the grindiest grinders of all. Joel Ward worked his way up from the ECHL! How frustrating that must be for everyone.

Why would they have a problem with Hayden?

Meatball fans want him to do well because he seems big and lumbering and North American, so the blog has to hate him. HE'S GRINDY! HE WENT TO CAHHHLEGE! I mean, God fucking forbid a draft pick we traded a good player for should pan out. They've said that a guy who hung around an Ivy League school all four years will never amount to anything (a strange inversion of the real world there, huh) because if he were any good he'd have joined the team sooner. The two obvious counterpoints are 1) power forwards are notoriously slow to develop so why rush him, 2) why would he walk out on Yale to fart around in a bus league when he had all four years before he had to sign a contract?

He'll probably wind up being okay. I hope he's better than okay. He's on pace for 31, I have my fingers crossed for 35-40 if all these parts ever end up fitting together.

That’s a really accurate take on those assholes

I listen to their show most weeks and IIRC they do not have a dislike for Hayden. They do follow the Boers and Bernstein freight train of hate style. It's part of their shtick. I found it amusing how much they hated TVR. Overall, it is easily my favorite podcast on the Hawks.
