THE WINNIPEG JETS ARE FOR REAL. I've been waiting for this day since May 31, 2011, that the Hawks would go up to Winnipeg and play a game that really mattered. There's not a fanbase that deserves it more, per capita the savviest and most passionate in the league. Hawks fans are fucking garbage compared to Jets fans. (In fact, Hawks fans might be garbage compared to literal garbage: I listened to the second period of the Cats game on the radio and you could hear every fart in the 100 level, the crowd was that dead.) And no one better embodies the NHL fan spirit of relentlessly shitting on the league but defending it to the death from outsiders because that's what Winnipeg (and Rockford, and every big Small Town) is all about.

Anyway, Wheeler and Scheifele are tearing it up (38 and 35, resp., but Scheifele's at 14 goals), Laine is in a bit of a sophomore slump with a mere 26 points in 31 games, plus contributions from Ehlers, Little, Perreault, and the rest. The defense isn't perfect, especially with Byfuglien out, but they could land another piece if they can find a guy who won't block a trade to Winnipeg. Really, the big change has been that they've tightened up the kill a little and stayed off it a lot. That was their undoing the past two years.

Anyway, I'd prefer a Hawks win, but also, go Jets go! Might as well JUMP! The Guess Who sucked the Jets WERE lousy anyway.

I caught a minute of Soupy on pregame a few days ago and I hadn't seen a camera strike so much fear into someone's eyes since the time Wayne got fired mid-show and Garth had to host the rest of the show himself.

Three shit efforts against basement teams at home, then they go up to Winnipeg where the Jets have been near-unbeatable and score three goals on five shots in ten minutes. This is the dumbest sport sometimes.

You weren't kidding, Campbell really does sound brutal. He sounds like the clueless hoser you'd expect a Western Canadian in his fifties like Troy Murray to be, but Troy is actually a pretty sharp analyst.

Try the Winnipeg feed. Isn’t Boynton there now?

Boynton is on the TV side. Winnipeg's radio team is surprisingly awful for a market that should be leaning heavily on its radio coverage (Manitoba, Saskatchewan, NW Ontario...lot of area to cover). It's one really nasal guy who sounds fat and the old Manitoba Moose pbp guy who was deemed too slow on the uptake for NHL pbp so he just does color.

Wireman was blowing smoke complementing him during intermission. Pretty rough listen

I'm going to guess Jen doesn't like Winnipeg as much as Phoenix
