Panarin just scored to tie the Red Wings at 4, after the Jackets were down 4-2 going into the third. That gives him 80 points, and he now holds the franchise record for most points in a season @ 80. Very impressive considering he got off to a really slow start. He has also improved his defense a bit. Makes the trade for Saad look that much worse for the Hawk.

So, as a quick aside, the bar at the bowling alley my league is in on Tuesdays was just redone, complete with installing a new bar manager, who happens to be former Blackhawk Ryan Hartman's dad....who happens to be a giant douchebag. Anyway, Hartman's mom (or stepmom or something) is the new Tuesday night bartender. Other than the usual issues of her not knowing where most of the beers are, or how to pour a pint, or get a fucking food order right, since suckass Hartman got traded to Nashville, they've gone out of their way to turn this place into a "Preds Bar". Mind you, the color scheme and decor post renovation is 100% Blackhawks stuff, etc...so, enough backstory:

Last night, we're out on the lanes watching the Sox game on one of the tv's, and with their new system, the bar controls the TVs on the lanes, too. We look up before things got out of hand, and all of a sudden, Nashville/Florida is on all the TV's. So, I meander over to the counter and ask who we need to speak with to rectify this situation, and I'm pointed to the bar. I go in and ask them to kindly turn something that people actually want to watch on instead of Predators hockey. I'm immediately met with the sort of response like, "Don't you want to cheer my kid on?" type shit....which is immediately responded to with, "The only thing that made me cheer for your kid when he was on the Hawks was if he was a healthy scratch...why should that change now?" The channels were changed. All was well. The center manager came over to talk to me about 10 minutes later, and to paraphrase, she said, "thank you for telling them what we have all wanted to, but couldn't." And my bar tab was paid for...great success.

To answer the question, fuck it...Vegas in the West, Tampa in the East.

I just think it's cool how all the hockey people were wrong about Vegas. Great attendance. Great record. Great atmosphere. I know it's not in the middle of elk country in a place that gets snow 10 months a year but it's working.

Well, it helped that the NHL gave them the most favorable expansion draft in sports history. Minnesota and Columbus came into the league with the absolute dregs because it snows there, fuck 'em, they'll show up anyway.

I have an unhealthy hatred of all the teams in the Western Conference (cept Hawks of course) because of the various playoff series in the last decade. I want them all to lose, so I guess I'll just cheer for whomever comes out of the East.

I can't root for Vegas. An NHL team should never have been put there (see AZ).
