Vinnie Hinostroza and John Hayden signed to 2-year extensions.

I'm wrong on a lot of stuff and usually don't mind, but being wrong on John Hayden having any value whatsoever as a hockey player stings.

1-way deal at 750k/yr. He's an okay option to have on the 4th line or depth forward. Need those guys if they plan on bringing in an above-average D & C men.

He wasn't even any good in Rockford. Went to a game this year and he was a ghost.

Both of these signings are fine- nothing to get excited about but could prove beneficial. Hino has been able to produce on top lines in the past and has not looked out of place. His pts/60 was 3rd highest on the team. He is the perfect type of 3rd line player on a cheap contract that could surprise.

I have always liked Hayden. A little bit of grit and skill. He can be useful in a bottom 6 role. He has flashed some skill but has been too inconsistent.

Tanner Kero to Vancouver for Michael Chaput. I don't know who that is but probably a similar tweener.

Kero had big shoes to fill as a fourth-line defensive-specialist center and he never came close. Bye.

Apparently they thought so highly of Kero they traded him for a guy they're going to let walk as a UFA. Laz says Duclair and Jurco are likewise not being tendered.

He's 22 and can round out your scoring. He would have cost, what, $1.2MM to qualify? They better be storing that money up for something big, and John Tavares already said he won't come here.

They think he will cost upwards of $1.5 million and tried to trade his rights. No one wants him. I'm fine passing on him, he doesn't have the hands to match his speed and we already have 1 Vinnie Hinostroza.

This will be 3 teams that have moved on from him by the age of 22. Meh- I don't care one way or the other.

Cam Ward for 1 year at $2.5 million as the Hawks' affliation with Carolina continues.

At least he might not suck as much as Forsberg?

Ward has been terrible for years and years but hung around in Carolina because Karmanos was loyal to him for the ill-gotten Cup win in 2006. Really an absolutely horrible signing here.

At least Ward didn’t have a 3.18 GAA last year like Darling did.

Maybe the idiots running the Hurricanes now, who you may remember as the idiots who last ran the Atlanta Thrashers, think they should (or have to) stick with Darling. I would much rather bring back Darling off a buyout or at retained salary and then hope Waite, Crawford, and proximity to family can get him back on track in what I'd hope would only be 25-30 sheltered starts. Cam Ward is old and shitty and his sorry ass would have washed out of this league years ago if Karmanos didn't cling to that time Ward happened to be in goal when Chris Pronger couldn't overcome the Oilers' goalie spontaneously combusting. What a fraud.

Or, underpaying for a starter...

The teeth-gnashing that is going on over the Cam Ward signing is ridiculous. He was a bottom quarter of the league starter but he is fine as the backup. This is not a playoff team if Crawford is not close to 100%. Who did people want? Bernier or Hutton? Both of those guys will get multi-year deals. Who's next- Halak? Lehner? Lehtonen? Any of them do anything for you? Did you want to trade something for Garrett Sparks?

most hawks fans want some version of quick, lundqvist, or fleury...but magically not having to pay for it. oh, and get Karlsson and a couple more top 2 blueliners for real cheap. and blame bowman for everything else. and question the 2nd most winningest coach in league history because liNEuP cHANgeS

If Crawford is out, accept the rebuild and stop wasting money.

We're all in trouble in the West if Tavares goes to the Sharks, which looks more and more like it's about to happen. He only has 12 minutes left to get an eight-year deal with the Islanders.

All indications are that James van Riemsdyk is going back to the Philadelphia #Flyers on a deal to be announced Sunday. #TSN

Yeah, no thanks if I were the Hawks. Only the second season he has scored 30 or more goals

Lot of the Hawk reporters/bloggers/podcasters are saying Ian Cole would be a good fit with the Hawks given that he is a defensive d-man. I'm fine with it if he is your 4/5 guy.

$3MM for Ward. Shut the fuck up, that is too much money for a league-worst goalie.
