So I am guessing Jones will be protected in the expansion draft? Otherwise it makes no sense to bring him in.

Good thing the got something for Keith yesterday. The wild just bought out Suter and Parise. The Oilers could have easily signed Suter for less than they are now paying Keith. Those are some serious cap hits the Wild are going to take in the coming years.

I think as this offseason progresses the Keith trade is going to look better and better for Chicago. That's a lot of cap space the Hawks acquired. The Suter buyout was initially shocking but when you look at the buyout this year versus waiting, it makes sense. Suter going to Edmonton would have been a great match but I doubt he would have signed in Edmonton. Suter is an American guy and Edmonton is usually one of the last destinations an American hockey player wants to go to.

I like when people say "hockey players are tough" but they're not tough enough to play in Canadian cities without demanding trades.

Some radio guy from Edmonton was on the Madhouse podcast to discuss the trade and talked about Jones having a shitty attitude. Hopefully most of it was just being an american kid stuck in Edmonton.

I have read a lot of articles and comments from Edmonton beat writers and Oiler fans on different forums and I have not heard anyone say anything about Jones having a bad attitude. Wonder if that is a little spin control from the Oilers since they are getting crushed over this trade. Granted, if a hockey player doesn't 100% toe the company line they are often viewed in a negative light by the ultra-conservative hockey coaching staffs.

Zawaski tried to portray Jones as some right-wing conspiracy nut and the Edmonton guy completely dismissed that. Yeah, Zawaski, the "we try to avoid politics" line you threw in there was a bunch of bullshit.

Glad Zadorov not on the list. Not saying I have high hopes for the Stillman or Jones but bleck on Zadorov.

So do the Kraken take Zadorov, De Haan, or Delia?

I can't even begin to imagine them taking Delia but the Hawks are basically offering hot garbage. I saw some mention of Gaudette but whatever. I would think it would be between Zadorov and De Haan and god, Zadorov is that potential guy who is never going to get there.

I can't imagine that they are going to want to pay Zadorov. De Haan is familiar to Ron Francis, so that's either an absolute yes or an absolute no. I don't even know who Gaudette is, so I guess they can have him.

Foreward that had some health issues apparently.. No reason to have heard about him, just saw him mentioned in an article or three. Id think it would be de Haan if they have to take someone, at least it is only a one year contract situation.

Was thinking the same thing, not sure how much Suter has left, but he would upgrade your PP and at the least be a solid top 4 D-man on the Hawks.

This move goes a long way toward changing the personality of the Hawks D from a finesse, poke check type group to a more physical D with guys that will knock you on your wallet if you camp out in front of the net.

If you have numerous forwards that want no part of physical corner battles you better get some D guys that can at least make the opposing team keep their head up when they walk off the boards.

Don't fuck up the future with this Seth Jones trade.

What's the big hype with Seth Jones? I get he was a top 5 pick and still only 26 but he hasn't even made an ASG.

They’re going to. To give up a bunch of assets and then sign him to an 8-year deal is a terrible plan. And what a lot of people are not mentioning is that from an advanced metrics standpoint, Jones’s games has gotten worse the last couple seasons. To give up Dach or Debrincat or even Boqvist would be a huge mistake. And their #1 pick next season could be a lottery pick with a couple franchise-altering prospects who will be available.

Holy fuck! That is way too much.

That 2022 1st could be a lottery pick. Awful trade.

IF it is a top 2 pick, the Hawks keep it and they get 2023 1st rder.

A question: How long does the Wirtz family want to continue to own the team? Specifically, do they want to own it long enough to risk the NHL forcing them to change the team name in 8-10 years?

Rocky has proven the point that he can foster building a winner. With the new TV deal, the franchise is probably at it's high value relative to future inflation.

I ask because this feels very much like Sam Zell insisting on a winner to boost the Cubs sale value, and Jim Hendry throwing money in a panic at Alfonso Soriano.

This seems like a McDouche move. I think this is the real Stan Bowman, and he needs to go.

Already with this draft...

I am starting to think, Bowman knows absolutely nothing about Hockey.
