Mass evictions, mass unemployment, small businesses collapsing left and right, but at least we can't name sports teams after cigarette dealers anymore.

While I agree with your premise, that will not matter with the Hawks corporate sponsors. Maybe the Hawks hiring a woman as a special skills coach will buy them some time.

It's an easy fix for them. Obviously. They can still be the Blackhawks.

Just make the damn logo a bird.

They should make it an evil looking bird. That would be cool.

As a Hawks fan are you excited about this team? I'll check in periodically to see how Dach, Boqvist, and Mitchell are progressing but that is about it. Maybe if there are some tantrums from the core, I'll have to read about them. Ever since they let Crawford go and their outlook for the season was set, I have had very little interest in them. Haven't listened to a Zawaski or Laz/Powers podcast since the Bowman interviews and barely spent any time on the forums reading about them. But that Canadian division looks awesome. Toronto, Vancouver, and Edmonton.... Let's go! Also looking forward to watching a lot of Carolina and the Rangers this season.

I thought they were opening camp on the 31st and opening night is Jan 13th. Mitchell should make the opening roster which will be cool to see. I have no idea how they are going to ever get out from under the ridiculously atrocious Seabrook contract. It is going to ruin the rebuild or at least lengthen it beyond Toews' window of being useful.

Change the logo to a rooster and rebrand as the Black Cocks.

Yeah. They can make the bird logo better than that stupid one.

Maybe have the hawk in flight, wings spread out, with a mean look on it's face. Something cool like that.

And invite an infringement lawsuit from South Carolina.

No not really but I've been watching the Hawks since the days of Pierre Pilote, Dennis DeJordy, Chico Maki and Doug Mohns. It's what I do in the winter. Bring it on, I appreciate good hockey by the opposition too, that's why Bobby Orr and Guy LaFleur are a couple of my all-time favorites.

He's still GM, though, he hasn't been made vice-president of looking out the window yet. He should be, though.

Fair enough. I will get all the Hawks coverage I need by watching the extended highlights packages on Youtube after every game. I have no confidence that Bowman has the ability to turn things around.

Is it possible in any way that the launching of McDonough/promotion of StanBo could add a bit of fuel to the fire that some of the moves attributed to StanBo actually were pushed from above?
