Listening to WBEZ and they cut into Weekend Edition to do a segment with Cheryl Raye-Stout. They went to great lengths not to say the word "Blackhawks." Something like "we'll be talking about the White Sox, the Bears, the Sky, and hockey." Then closed it with "and hockey is back, and so is [wipes mouth]blkhwks captain Jonathan Toews." I think I'm more annoyed that the media libs rank the NHL below the WNBA.

Oh its happening. The Portland Winterhawks now have some god damn cartoon bird as their logo. There was also some issue with MAF and his new goalie mask paint scheme. It seems the first 3 versions his artist submitted were denied by the Hawks due to them potentially being insensitive.

So yeah, I had this crazy idea the other day. There are currently zero native American reservations in Illinois. My idea is the Blackhawks could contribute some land...maybe a chunk in Wisconsin, but also a portion of one of the parking lots at the UC.

Now that that property is native land, build a casino attached to the UC with a 99 year lease. Maybe sell 1% ownership in the Blackhawks to them $1 or something.

While Lazerus sucks and Powers is mediocre, the overall hockey coverage on the Athletic is excellent. The Toronto, Vancouver, and New Jersey writers are excellent. Now add in the podcasts and any other sports you might like, auto racing for me, and it is easily worth $5 a month. Hell, I don't even pay attention to baseball, football, and basketball and I still don't read everything on the site that interests me.
