Eh, it's harmless.

Not if I kill a puppy after the next bad joke.

Take your life through scaphism.

Only if the Yotes win the Cup which will never happen.

I like how CH's Blackhawks world is constantly collapsing around him to the point he sees the dreaded Yotes and their awful system as his #1 best option to win the Cup. Meanwhile the Hawks suck balls but are 9-0-2. I'm afraid if CH were to ever predict any Hawks success that we could be looking at a catastrophe of a losing streak. Never change, CH. We love you. 8)

If it gets you guys off my ASS, I don't think the Nashville Predators will contend for the Stanley Cup.

They're far and away the worst announcing team in hockey. Anyone who likes them is an idiot. Don't know what's more annoying, when Olczyk blatantaly miss calls the play on the ice or when he goes into one of his stand up comedy routines.

They're so bad I'd rather listen to Jack Edwards.

Oh my god you don't have a fucking clue what you're talking about. Pat Foley is one of the best ever. Give me your top ten.

Oh, and Jack Edwards is the man, too.

As someone who used to travel a lot so I've caught a lot of other teams TV and Radio guys. Pat and Eddie are fantastic relatively. Sure I could do without some of Eddie's joke and Pat 'Tree Thrirty Tree' but in the grand scheme of the broadcast its a minor nuisance.

I mean, Pat and Eddie weren't even the worst broadcast team at the game last night. Have you heard Tyson Nash speak?

Coppock hates Foley. There are only two people Chet really rips in his book- Foley and Megan Mawicke. Was Foley a classmate of Aggravated Bob?

Hockey play-by-play talk! Gave my top choices earlier in a different thread. As for others I enjoy, I really like the Leafs' Joe Bowen, Caps' Joe Beninati, Sharks' Randy Hahn and Wings' Ken Daniels. Beninati is pretty polarizing but I love his throaty "Scooorrrres" goal call.

This is my first year with Gamecenter so I'll be more informed of other broadcasts. Though I already know I despise Anaheim's and Nashville's crew. They fucking suck.

Ken Daniels and Mickey Redmond in Detroit are really good. Jack Edwards and Andy Brickley do a good job with the Bruins; they're ridiculous homers (Brickley has a thick New England accent, too) but the Bruins are enough of an abstraction for us that it can't get on my nerves. I like Sam Rosen with the Rangers and Howie Rose with the Isles. Bob Miller and Jim Fox with the Kings are solid and unobtrusive. Rick Peckham with the Bolts is a longtime solid hockey guy, but I don't remember who his partner is. I don't know who calls Oilers games, but I think they do a good job. Honestly, it's hard to tell with Canadian teams because TSN and the CBC pick up their games so damn much that you really only have like a 50-50 shot of the local crew doing the game. If it's enough of a compelling matchup that you're watching an Oilers game in the first place, chances are it's a national game for them.

Homers? A Boston announce team?

J'accuse!

It's okay with them, though, because at least they're both lifelong New Englanders (and one is a longtime Bruin), so there's an authenticity that comes with their bias and enthusiasm. And because they're funny: Edwards's "AHHHH HA HA HA HA HA" is a great moment in hockey broadcasting, and anything that comes out of a guy who sounds like Cliff Clavin is going to be inherently funny on some level. It's the same dynamic with Pat and Eddie and Chicago and the Hawks, though even I'll admit that if I hear about the time the announcer at the old Montreal Forum said "tree turty tree in de turd," I'm gonna smash my laptop.

Contrast with Hahn and Remenda with the Sharks, who just seem like hired guns charged to make the Sharks sound like the bestestest organization in the whole wide world without any deeper ties than being on the payroll. It's the same gripe I've always had with Hawk Harrelson. Everyone makes a big deal out of him being Mr. White Sox or something, but he was a Red Sock for most of his playing career, and he's taken his show on the road as an announcer. If you know where to dig, you can find airchecks of him doing the same schtick for the Yankees in the '80s. Farmer is just as much a homer and just as much a terrible broadcaster, but at least he's real.

It's February 9th and Patrick Kane is a legitimate Hart Trophy candidate. 3rd in Goals, 4th in Assists, 2nd in points. If Vanek wasn't having a crazy good start to the year he'd arguably be the early favorite.

Pretty much sums up my feelings on them as well. The jokes are awful and one too many of them makes me want to rage, shakes style. However, I've heard all of the broadcasting teams that the NHL has to offer and when Foley sticks to broadcasting and Olczyk sticks to talking about the game, the broadcast is top notch.

If you stuck around till the bitter end, you heard Pat Foley break bad on the NHL for owning the Coyotes for four years and Phoenix fans not showing up, something that announcers had previously been loath to do. That was pretty cool. I didn't think Count Bettman allowed teams to go on the record and acknowledge that the Phoenix thing is a taxpayer-subsidized joke.

Yeah but Wayne Gretzky's daughter is hot, in a ubiquitously-exhibitionist slutty way.
