So they're saying the Hawks tied the Oilers of the 80s for the best start in NHL history. But that's not true cuz the Hawks lost in OT this year, right? At least once I think. The Oilers would have gotten an L for an OT loss back then.

So they should probably say it's the best start since the points rule change.

There weren't overtime loss points in 1984-85. Overtime loss points didn't start until 1999-2000. If you adjust to 1980s point-keeping, the Hawks are 11-0-4. What were the Oilers?

I don't know. I had WGN 720 listening to the final minutes and the announcer said they tied the Oilers of the 80s. Maybe he said for 2nd best start. But he said if the Hawks win their next game, it's the best start.

And their next game is VANCOUVER. If anyone breaks the streak, you know it's gonna be those fuckers.

What's the best winning % in NHL history? It's not a full season, but the Hawks can go for the percentage record.

It's probably a team from before the expansion, but the '96 Red Wings had some unreal record.

Apparently the '96 Wings had 131 points in 82 games, the '77 Habs had 132 in 80. So there you go. For reference, the 76-77-78-79 Habs had the rare championship four-peat, which was then followed by a second four-peat by Long Island, which in turn was followed by the Oilers winning five of the next seven with two Flames/Habs Finals amidst them. Glory Days.

Googled it!!!!

The 1976/1977 Motreal Canadians have the best winning percentage in NHL history. They went 60-8-12. That's 83%. That's what the Hawks are shooting for.

Darkside, where are you?

I was at the Wolves game today... solid free tickets.
Watching the replay now... but I think I can see where this one is going.
