I'm becoming reasonably sure that Eddie and Pat are getting word from above to do everything possible not to praise Stalberg. He has been pretty great lately and it's pulling teeth to give him a compliment on the broadcast.

You think the guy who ranted on Alexander Karpovtsev for like 3 minutes would shy away from giving compliments to Stalberg?

I meant moreso Eddie, but I don't think Pat could do today what he did to Karpotsev. The message control from the Hawks is in a different world compared to what it used to be. I don't even know if I truly think this, but Stalberg is 99% out of town next year as the team won't be able to afford him, just interesting that the broadcast seems to hesitate to praise him.

They can afford him if he takes a cut to stay and the Hawks move some other parts (Frolik). Remember, the capocalypse is for every team now, and there are some teams in far, far worse situations than we are. So unless Stalberg wants to get his payday with some bottom-feeder, he might want to stick around.

I'm a little worried about the price tag for Leddy, though.

Someone is going to offer Leddy at least 3 million. He's young, fast and he's only going to keep getting better.

Lose Frolik and Carcillo and save some $$. Both useless. I think Zeus is a rentaplaya too right?

Yeah, there's no chance he's back. He's running on fumes as it is. John Madden 2013.

And then there's Jamal Mayers. He doesn't even have fumes.

PK Subban fielded no offers and was low balled by Habs. Hawks also have the option of selling high on Hammer. I think there will more Roszival type veterans getting squeezed and providing 5-6 production if Hawks are patient.

Edit: you also got a team like the cash-poor Blues stuffed with RFAs. Shatty and Petro can be picked off much easier I bet.

Oh man thanks for reminding me that the Blues are so f-u-c-k-e-d this summer. Ed Snider will devour them.

I wouldn't give up on Hjalmarsson, though. $3.5MM turned out to be a bargain this year. The organization has not given me much confidence that Dylan Olsen is ready to be S@H #2, and Seabrook's play has been flagging for some time.

Hawks finish first in the West. I was wrong: 77 points, as it stands, to win the President's Trophy.

I'm not okay with moving Hjalmarsson. He has become the #2 dman on this team and it can be argued he's been the best dman for us all season. They should look to move Sharp or Seabrook first. I'm sure there will be a few teams that will need to take on a huge contract just to reach the cap floor.
