So you guys were only able to come up with one public school player who was "recruited"? Public school recruiting is very very rare.

You took me mentioning one person as only being able to produce one example? You are incorrect.

When I said that I was referring to football. I don't really give a shit about basketball where it happens in the chicago public schools. This is strictly a football and suburban issue for me. I'm just saying that there are enough private schools to have their own class in Football. It would be an awesome class too. It would also keep the competitive balance amongst the public schools. You could even keep the 8 classes. Give them 1 and the rest of everyone the other 7. If private schools made up 25 percent of all playoff teams in the last decade or so then give them 2 classes to the public's 6. It would just be rearranging the same teams that are already in it.

No, it isn't. Half the guys on the average Simeon basketball team started somewhere else.

Like everything else, its probably worse in the city.

Naturally. People in Naperville work harder.

Despite my discomfort posting in this thread, the last time Whitney Young won state in basketball, many/most of the kids where from as far away as Burr Ridge & River Forest, and a number hadn't ever actually formally applied/tested for admission.

But I'm not exactly about to sympathize with the schools who have at least 5 coaches for each team, actual trainers & multi million dollar on campus facilities for several sports. Frankly I have just always assumed that all city/suburban/public/private schools with $$$ and friends of the program cheat anyway.

I remember those days. Now Simeon just dominates so it doesn't really matter at all.

They won't dominate this season. They're not better than Young, Curie, or Orr.

We'll see what happens at the end of the year. I would be lying if I told you I knew really anything about high school sports. I just notice that my high school dominates the 3 major sports in the city and has dominated basketball in the state for a decade.

That may have been very true when I was in school but are there powerhouse public suburban schools now? Stagg, Lincolway and Naperville, Wheaton etc.? I think it has to do with the size of the school and therefore a bigger student base to find better athletes.
