I'm jumping on the Lovie bandwagon while I can still say I liked him before no one else did.

This has to be more fruitful than following the trainwreck that is the Chicago Bears.

Cornhuskers on tap this week. I think Lovie will have them ready to play after the let-down against WMU.

He has to get Ke'Shawn Vaughn more involved in the offense. Eight carries doesn't cut it.

He'll get some players down there and get a defense going....I'd love to be in Lincoln when they play....I honestly thought Wes Lunt would be better. I don't think they'll have another miracle against Nebraska this time, but it would be nice.

I like the move. But Illinois has zero talent.

Correction---Illinois plays not this, but the following week against Nebraska.

Lovie has said they're going back to fundamentals during this off week after the dismal defensive showing against WMU. I think that's wise, rather than spending two weeks prepping for Big Red. You have to learn to crawl before you can walk.

If Lovie turns the Illini program around, say, in three years, I wonder whether the McCaskeys would even consider bringing him back, when he's right there in Champaign to be plucked away. Or has that bridge been burned forever? You see this Bears product and can't help asking yourself why they ever fired Lovie after going 10-6 in his last season. Yes, he missed the playoffs, but Cutler was his quarterback. I doubt that Lovie was really the one to blame. The players loved playing for him. It certainly would have been a lot easier if the Bears had just cut Cutler.

First quarter of the season is over. If they go 1-2 in the second quarter it'd be a minor victory. Who knows what the 3rd quarter holds.

The more I think about this game, the more I believe this is a classic trap game for Nebraska at home being undefeated, with Illinois coming off the bye. While I can't recall how the Bears performed off the bye under Lovie, I have to think he will have his team ready come Saturday. His players have to be excited about playing at Nebraska.

I think an outright upset is possible, but it's more likely than not Illinois will come under the +21. It's not like Nebraska was dominant against Northwestern this past weekend, and Coach Fitz isn't half as good as Lovie.

Lovie made it to the Superbowl with Rex Grossman as QB.

Imagine if he had ever had a good QB with the Bears.

You were saying?

Good showing today, but you have to play all four quarters.

Where are you people? Illinois plays that kind of game yesterday, and you have nothing to say?

Even though the outcome was not a win, the team showed a lot of character after Lunt went out, showing they are capable of rallying. They're were some fanatics catches by Illinois receivers and other excellent individual plays (Crouch). Illinois has a good prospect there, and he's only a sophomore. Can run well and throw.

They should have flagged the Purdue coach for unsportmanlike for calling three timeouts. What a ****head. And there's Lovie just shaking his head on the sidelines. I can only imagine what his indignation was after the game. If that's the only way Purdue could win, abusing the timeouts, then it wasn't really a win at all.

I like the way this program is headed. They had Memorial Stadium filled yesterday with everyone staying until the end. I went there one time in '88 on a recruiting visit and saw Jeff George beat Northwestern. It's a great stadium to play and watch a game in.

Even though the outcome was not a win, the team showed a lot of character after Lunt went out, rallying from behind. There were some superb catches by Illinois receivers and other excellent individual plays (Crouch). Illinois has a good prospect there, and he's only a sophomore. Can run well and throw.

They should have flagged the Purdue coach for unsportmanlike for calling three timeouts on the last play. What a ****head. And there's Lovie just shaking his head on the sidelines. Was it 3 or 4 excessive celebrations on the Illini?

One is ok but anything beyond reflects poorly on the coach.

That fumble in OT is what killed them. What is spring practice for?....Learn how to hold the rock!!

What killed em is sloppy play, they are poorly coached..that dirty hit on the Purdue QB with a few minutes left in the game should have that piece of shit suspended for 3 games, not just the first half of the Rutgers game.

You can't spell "I'll dominate" without ILL.

Rutgers was one of the top college teams in NJ.

Dr. Ken: A little (a little) light at the end of the tunnel with that TD, perhaps?

If you eliminate the first 19 minutes, they're winning this game.

Is that allowed?

Progress will be slow, but we'll see it with Lovie.

Not so sure about Groce.

DID NOT HAPPEN.

And by the way, my daughter's ACT score came in high enough that I think UW Madison is going to happen. Her and my wife have been having lots of fun pretending she might actually go to UIUC.

I know you are a big shooter and all but is she majoring in something that requires the out of state hit?
