Sure they had talent. But the Illini had just as much talent and more NBA talent yet didn't come close to doing as much with it.

Sounds like they should’ve been coached by Thibs

Seems like Illinois's role as the Real Basketball School that never wins the big one but is a perennial conference power has been ceded to Wisconsin. They don't churn out the pros like Henson's Illini did, but they keep their name in the papers, which is about all you can ask in a one-and-done world.

Are they though? Who the fuck cares about Wisconsin either?

From a casual fan perspective in recent times there are no Big 10 teams that matter outside of MSU and sometimes Michigan and maybe sometimes OSU and now Purdue but probably not. It’s reallt only been MSU for awhile now.

It’s just MSU.

People in Wisconsin cared more about the Badgers and/or Marquette than the Bucks for a long time. Combination of the then-moribund Bucks and rabble-rabble-fundamentals-leas-dey-call-traveling crap from Scott Walker lawnmower dads. The Bucks have always struggled to cultivate the statewide fanbase that the Packers and Brewers have.

And yeah, obviously Michigan State is the de facto cream of the class, if you will. It'd be nice for Indiana to matter again, I think.

I get the Bucks recent struggles but as of now they are no longer applicable. They finally have a transcendental superstar who (at least publicly and outwardly) wants to stay there and they are doing awesome in attendeance and publicity. Giannis saved them and he was the right guy at the right time and place to do it.

Yeah, the Bucks are riding high now, which is nice to see, but there was definitely a time when Wisconsin, at least beyond Milwaukee/Racine Counties, was far more enamored of the Badgers' various try-hard gumps. Who was that one guy they had? I think his name was Frank.

Frank Kaminsky. He was higher than I was somehow last year at a Sox game.

 I think I took that picture.

You ever babysit that kid, Peeps? I remember Big Frank bringing him in to Shinnick's when he was about ten years old. I guess Big Frank isn't really the big Frank anymore.

Bruce fucked up as soon as he latched on to Jereme Richmond as a freshman in high school. Kid was a fuck-up from day one.

The University of Houston might want to have some speaks with you.

I dont watch nearly as much college ball as I used to but I might throw Oklahoma in there somewhere. They had some great teams when I was growing up. That team that they had with Stacey King, Harvey Grant and Mookie Blaylock was one of my favorite teams when I was younger.

Trae Young and Blake Griffin are both better than any Illini player of the last 28-30 years as well. And a more compelling watch.
