Really appreciating the decision to use the whistle at practice as a Middle School coach now and not wearing the stripes for basketball. Everyday since the girls season started this week there's been a call from numerous assigners for guys to cover games here/there/everywhere. It'll be great during the days around Thanksgiving and Winter Break where I can just do stuff around the house/grade papers/plan and not be rushing from tourney to tourney. Best of luck to all teams this season, and to the stripes as well. |

The worst team on our schedule called Monday to tell us they weren't going to show for our game next month. They feel it wouldn't be competitive and we can take the forfeit or find another game. Either way they are not showing. The best part is this guy reached out to us to play this past summer. |

Best of luck to all teams this season, and to the stripes as well. how much can you make reffing. Those guys seem to have unlimited work between November and February. $65-70 for a Varsity Game depending on the conference and $50-55 for an under-level. If you do both or maybe an Frosh A then Frosh B it wouldn't be exactly a double fee, at least not until last year. Right now I am coaching for about nine weeks for the boys season and then after break another 9 weeks for the girls season (We don't follow IESA dates for Middle School) and am earning two stipends and am home at a decent time except the nights I have a game. After reffing for so long (20 years) this is a welcome change. |

They are big, physical and balanced. They are going to be right there for state unless something unforeseen happens. I later saw the JV team take down De LA Salle's Varsity team in one of the consolation round games. Had to be an embarrassment for De LA Salle's new coach. |

The young lady that is all world here in the town I live is making her decision on Monday. She is a Junior and can go to any school she wants, interested to see where she picks. KK Arnold is her name, great player and better kid from what I understand. |

I went to the Ignatius game last night at the Loyola/NewTrier holiday tournament. My goodness, this isn't your father's wolfpack basketball team. I have never seen an SICP in my entire life play above the rim as much as these guys. They are built like football players so you think in warmups that it will be a slow, physical pace. The game starts and these guys are dunking at every chance. Then the same guys are hitting 3s. They played a team named Bulls Academy who isn't great but they beat them by 50 or so without breaking a sweat. |

God if they make it downstate Wilbon will be more insufferable than usual since his kid was born. |

Per my investigative reporting, the Scouts are 3-1 with a loss to New Trier in their turkey tourney championship. The tourney took place at Loyola Academy. |

Last year during the short season I had them at Lakes and they looked impressive. |

Looking forward to getting out and seeing some games this year. An old teammate is the coach at Warren. Will get out to see them too. |

But you made it sound like SICP was the second coming of Phi Slamma Jamma. |

Knocking off Simeon in football for a city title and a developing perennial basketball powerhouse. Used to be just track and cute girls. |

JV and Varsity made it to the City Championship game about 6 or 7 years ago i think and both lost to Simeon. Michael O'Brien was amazed by the Sea of Red that he saw at the game. And everyone knows that the Simeon base is strong but Kenwood drowned them out that day. |
