St. Rita's all star team has been a disaster so far. Simeon running clocked them today. Also blew a double digit 4th quarter lead vs Joliet West last week.

Then you have Mike Irvin. Someone should tell him its not about him.

Meanwhile the losing coach, whose best player getting his 4th foul early in the third likely cost them the game tonight vs Kenwood.

St. Rita's backcourt is nowhere near championship level. Vastly overrated team.

These refs should be relegated to lower level games the rest of the year.

Jesuit Cup tonight.

They are playing it in the Academy's tiny gym because those douches spent their budget on getting the football team on ESPN at the beginning of the year. Last year it was at UIC with a crowd that the Flames would die to have. It was really perfect. Pre game at Tufano's, walk a block to UIC without having to move the car, post game at Tufano's as well. The bar was packed with people from both schools and there was a wait for tables.

You'd think a place like Loyola U, where those two schools conservatively send a combined 50 kids per year, would step up and say they'll give the gym for free on a Friday night.

When good dolphin was a young lad, his parents were worried about what career he would choose so they asked the Pastor at Queen of All Saints, Fr. Clark, to speak with him.

Fr. Clark placed a Bible, a copy of the U.S. Constitution, and a bottle of Scotch on the table. If dolphin chose the Bible, he would probably become a priest; if he chose the Constitution, he'd be a lawyer; and if he chose the bottle, he'd become a worthless bum.

So Mr. & Mrs. dolphin called good dolphin into the room and Fr. Clark told him he could have whichever object he wished. When dolphin promptly picked up all three, Fr. Clark cried out, "Heaven forbid! He's going to be a Jesuit!"

Sounds like the same crew that did the game at U-High the other night.

Just fucking terrible refs.

Just took a look.

The same head ref as the U-High game.

Ignatius playing to go downstate for the second year in a row tonight versus Grayslake. This is the same pattern as last year: underwhelming regular season with a lot of talent and then turn it on during the tournament. It's at that arena in Hoffman Estates where the bulls g league team plays. It's a bitch to get there by 6 for me.

Tonight will probably decide the 2A championship. DePaul Prep (nee Gordon Tech) vs. Perspectives.

It could, but I wouldn't count out Pontiac or Rockford Lutheran.

- DGN played great and beat Kenwood by 20. Great job breaking the press all game and keeping Kenwood from scoring in transition.

- Simeon has looked great the last two games. They shoot like they did tonight, no one will be with in 20 of them.

- Perspectives player pulled a Chris Webber in the final 15 seconds calling a timeout with them having the ball and game tied. The way that game was going it was likely DePaul would have won in ot.

Metamora with the upset. Surprised at the mistake Simeon made in the final minute. Trying to hold for the last shot with Metamora only having two team fouls. They just fouled them down until the end of the 4th and Simeon never got a good look. Should have went right away.

Matamora's coach did a masterful job of manipulating the foul situation at the end. I think Robert Smith made the correct call holding for the last shot. If he didn't do it they were going to do it to him. Hold for the last shot and then at worst you go to OT.
Metamora's coach also did a great job pulling Miles Rubin away from the bucket and exploiting the mismatch down low with one of his players on Kaiden Space. They went right at the mismatch on back to back plays in OT and scored both times. Surprised that Robert Smith sat the other twin in OT but they were attacking him constantly down the stretch in the 4th. Well played and Well coached game. I'm glad they moved state back to Champaign where it belongs too.

There shouldn't be third place games at all. A team works its ass off to get downstate, has a great year and then has to end it with two losses. It turns what should be a good season and a sense of accomplishment into a bitter experience in Champaign.

Imagine playing a super tough semi and losing on a last second shot in Double OT and now you've got to go play some hillbilly team for third place. It sucks.

I'm sorry I didn't see this earlier. I have nothing but the highest respect for him. My son is a freshman. Only one other kid from his grade school went and they don't like each other. Early on, he was sitting alone during a free period. Barron saw it and hung out with him for the entire break, talking basketball, school and life. That's character.
