That explains it. I saw that Sterling beat the living hell out of them and I was a bit surprised at a 16 doing that to a 1.

Add that to things I learned this fall about high school football. Apparently there is 8 man football in the state.

I don't think there is a tournament for 8 man yet, but one of my relatives who lives downstate thinks that they will have one starting in 2025.

Some of those 8 man teams have 12 total players on their squad, from high schools with total enrollment under 100.

30 teams was the last thing I saw. Amboy/Lamoille/Ohio apparently coop for a year. I thought Ohio cooped with Princeton but apparently I am wrong. Ohio has 24 kids last I saw, they should probably fold into Bureau Valley. Lamoille has less than 100 (Probably should fold into Mendota or Princeton if there is room) and Amboy has a a couple hundred. From what I saw there is tournament but it is not IHSA sanctioned.

I learned 8 man football was a thing out there when some hayseed cut in during the middle of a good song on the radio to begin pregame of a Saturday afternoon 8 man football game. I figured Amboy High School was large enough to field a full 11 man team.

The coop of those three schools is maybe 50 kids smaller than the Annawan-Wethersfield (Kewanee) one that plays 1A with success but both of those schools played 1A with no coop until about 10 years ago. Size of their linemen was a definite problem.

MC gets to travel Quincy next week. Their only playoff test will be in Semis vs Batavia.

Ignatius gets to host Loyola. At least they get to stay home for that beat down. Maybe Good Dolphin can get a picture with Fitz since he is coaching at Loyola this fall.

East St. Louis is going to roll to another title in 6a.

The fighting Caller Bob's won a big game down in Springfield today.

Might be the best rivalry between schools that pretty much only play each other in the playoffs.

Agree that Morris should have their number this year.

MC-Batavia has turned into a decent one the past ten years. It's nice seeing Batavia lose.

That would be impressive with Morris being all home grown and JCA going town to town and buying all the best players

Morris does a great job of instilling it's hard running offense in all levels of its feeder league teams (like Batavia and Richmond). There is a reason why the three public schools I listed do well every year.

Bring on the ramblers

1-100 chance of winning this one. Maybe Saturday is the 1

It’s a successful season. Moved up two classes and still advanced to the quarterfinals.

I offered to do local recruiting at the high school fair at our old grade school. The St. Lawrence table was next to mine. I was joking around with the guy because I doubt there has ever been anyone from the neighborhood that ever attended; not that it is a bad choice, just geographically it isn't going to happen

I'm on some social media strings with Loyola people. They are talking about taking a bus down because of difficult parking and the neighborhood.

Tommy sucks, but it is some kind of bs that MC has to travel all the way to Quincy as the second ranked team in the state.

They have a shot this week vs ICCP. Those cowards sat all their D1 kids when they played Loyola.

Antioch get blasted by Carmel Catholic 50-7. Hoping Morris fares better.

Ignatius wins 39-6 in an away game against a higher seeded Joliet West.

Even more importantly, my boy played most of the 4Q at center with his older cousin at guard. It was a fun moment.

They play Huntley next at Ignatius for some reason, even though Huntley is the higher seed. I won't question it after being in Joliet two weekends in a row. Tough draw and it should be one of the best games in 8A this week.

That is cool for your son! Congrats to him!

Although I would have guessed that the product of such a prominent poster around here would be a QB in the making. But I guess a future Olin is not too shabby :P

Even worse, they asked Loyola to do the same. Loyola was like, "fuck that, now we are really going to stick it to you" and won 47-0

My son told me there is some social media platform the players from everywhere post at and antioch was crying about the unfair advantage at catholic schools. Little bitches. Enjoy hunting season, hayseeds.

Tread lightly, or have you forgotten who is an infamous resident of Antioch?

Warren still alive in 8A and get a home game against Lincoln Way East this Saturday night. Apparently, they started 0-2 this season and have run off 9 in a row. Tempting to go to my first game there in 30yrs but highly doubtful.

Save your time, Lincoln Way East will skull fuck them. It's impossible to move the ball against LWE and they have a D1 commits at DE and Center.

Agree on both counts. I may drive out there anyway, now that my horrid other job is done and I have free time.

I was kinda pissed they had to play at Loyola two years in a row, but that's how it goes.

More hardware for the Wolfpack this past weekend :salut:

The fact that they have been beaten once and your high opinion of them gives me at least some semblance of hope Bob.
