I'm listening to the NU game and the majesty of the microphone that is Dave Eanet. The guy calls a great game. However, why the hell can't the Cats put away teams they easily should?? It's always playing up to the level of the competition? It's a 5 point game with 4 minutes left. C'mon Cats.

71 yard touchdown run by Kim Thompson!

(yes, I realize I'm talking to myself here)

26-14 Final.

Defense remains pitiful. Linebackers need much work. If not for a frosh QB from EMU, we would have lost. He overthrew about half of his passes this evening. Somehow I don't think Curtis Painter will be doing that next week in West Lafyette.

Still, congrats Cats. Way to go. Chicago's only winning football team.

I'm concerned about Bacher. Only 361 yards last night.

I watched the game on TV and listened at times to Dave on the radio. He had one major goof. He announced the return of Sutton on his entrance into the ballgame with dramatic hoopla. Problem was he had already been playing for a while until Dave noticed he was in the ball game.

Hey Mud - We're having a big tailgate before the IU game. Can you make it?

I thought NU's defense was pretty good last night. They gave up about 3 yards a carry and got 4 turnovers. You can't complain about that.

The one thing I wonder about NU is how good their offense is against a better defense. Most of the big plays I see them get is because of missed tackles. That was the game breaker last night. Two EMU guys collided with the big receiver and hit each other and no one could catch him. I saw the highlights of the Minny game and it was the same thing.

Absolutely. Any chance I can bring my father-in-law? He's cool. And let me donate to the tailgate this time. Thanks!

Vince you know I like you, but you have it absolutely backwards. The defense had ok stats, but that's because they played a horrible offense. No real running game and a frosh QB with no game experience. He overthrew more players than Jimmy Clausen.

And the receiver you are talking about is Ross Lane. The dude is clutch. Not particularly fast, but generally good hands. He and CJ seem to have a good rapport. Other than Ohio State, we haven't really played a decent defense yet. Even Michigan didn't play us well. And the Buckeyes shut us down big time.

For the upcoming games, here are my major worries:
Purdue... how many points can our O score to keep up with Painter who will pass at will on our secondary
Iowa... they are good enough on defense to limit CJ, can our Defense get a little penetration and pressure Jake Christensen?
Indiana... It will be the Hardy show. Can our offense respond?
Illinois... Will McGee (yes, I said McGee) hit his stride and pick apart our D? Or will it be Mendenhal? Will CJ get rattled because the Illinois blitz package will definitely be in full effect.

Bring the old man by! We'll be in the West lot again. We can talk before.

Good analysis on the schedule. Taking 'em one game at a time, I am psyched for next week's game. In my mind, it's going to make or break the season.
