WNBA teams were $3 million to buy, players got paid by the NBA and the teams try and sell sponsorships and pay expenses. The NBA also gets to sell some national sponsorships and then the PC correctness of the league.

Nobody buys a sports team to make "Cash flow" money. It is one of the major issues I have with Reinsdorf when he cries poor for either team. I am not saying operate at a loss for $25 million a year, but people buy pro sports teams for the appreciation of the value of the team and/or to cover expenses in the arena they own.
