Donnie Boyce needs to forget about this HS nonsense and take this gig. Former D-1 star, CBA player and NBA player. He knows every option professionally. And he can coach. And grope boobies. Just kidding.

Well he got fired from Proviso East so hes available.

He got fired for being physical with an unruly kid in his role as security at the school, not for his work as a coach

I know.

He definitely looks the part as a coach.

He has been rehired. Didn't see the earlier post. Sorry but that.

UIC should be better the next couple of years. They have an excellent recruiting class coming in next yr. They have one of the most underrated recruiters in the city in Ronald "Chin" Coleman. He has AAU ties as a result of his previous affiliation with Mac Irvin Fire program. This was their head coach's first season and he is attempting to put something together.

Deon Thomas is also an Assistant Coach also. They should be straight in a few yrs.

One of UIC most recent screw ups when they told Max Strus he had to walk on so he went to Lewis and has been dominant there.

I remember reading that they have the best recruiting class in the conf. The kid a Lewis may be good but Lewis is not a Div. 1 program. He may have struggled at UIC. Lewis plays a much lower level of competition.

How does the Irvin family survive with seemingly the only job title being AAU coaches?

I don't know to be honest. I know the father was an Adidas rep. He may have hooked them up. Byron is a sports agent, but I don't of any clients he has had other than Keon Clark. One of the kids is a party promoter or at least he used to be. They are all hooked up with basketball some kind of way though. Don't know what their day jobs are.

Pretty sure Morgan Park one is a security guard at the school.

After starring at Lewis for two seasons, Max Strus has decided to transfer to pursue opportunities at a Division I school.

Strus, a Stagg product, said he was granted his release from Lewis, a Division II program, on Wednesday and has received offers from DePaul, UIC and Toledo.

"Ever since I started playing basketball, it's been my dream to play at the Division I level," Strus said. "I think that my two years at Lewis put me in position to do that. I have the three offers so far and I'm waiting to see if I get any others."

Strus, a 6-foot-6 guard, has two years of eligibility remaining. As a sophomore, he led the Flyers in scoring (20.2 points per game), rebounding (8.4) and assists (3.5).

He was the MVP of the Great Lakes Valley Conference Tournament, leading the Flyers to the title, and was named one of 25 finalists on the watch list for the Bevo Francis Award for the top player in small-college basketball.

Coming out of high school, his only Division I offer was from Chicago State. He chose Lewis instead and started all 64 games during his two seasons, averaging 13.3 points his freshman season.

"I want to thank Lewis, coach (Scott) Trost and my teammates for helping me out so much these last two years," Strus said. "They really helped get my name out there so I could have this opportunity."

He'd also know how to negotiate a deal for a Blazer.
