I wondered if anyone else here is watching this beautiful game.

Of course I tuned in to see Charlie Moore :?

They looked really good last night. The best i have seen them look in years.

They had a former top 40 kid transfer out in Aug or they'd be even better.

Can you give us an answer on what the restrictions of their probation are?

Haven't really followed it that much but from what I know they are still eligible for the tournament. Leitao was banned for the first 3 games this season and they may have taken a scholarship or two from them. Otherwise nothing too major. The main thing is that they are tournament eligible which is good because they have the look of a team that might make the tournament.

Paul Reed has popped up on a few mock draft boards which means that there is some talent on the team. Charlie Moore is going to help them a helluva lot as is the kid that transferred from Illinois a few years ago. Top 40 Freshman on the team too.

The University itself. Their primary focus is having a steady stream of students that grossly overpay for a college education. Sports has been a second thought since Pat Kennedy left. The biggest mistake was taking way too long to get out of Rosemont and have an arena near campus.

Sports really should be a second thought, so I can't fault them there. However, you're right, a DePaul education is a rip off. As for their arena, I just checked it our for the first time this month. It's a lot nicer than the Horizon/Allstate Arena. Time will tell if that makes a difference. I don't think it will.

The problem is that sports aren't even a second thought at DePaul. Through the Joey Meyer and Pat Kennedy eras, the school still considered basketball as part of their identity. Now the yearly report from the president of the university barely acknowledges the basketball program. I never understood why they didn't also have a football program and shared a stadium.

that basketball team created a lot of good will for the university in this city and undoubtedly had a hand in all of the land acquisition and investment that has made it a really nice looking place that it is today

I don't think De Paul education is a rip off (and no, I did not go there)

If I am DePaul, I'd be at cleveland state coach Dennis Gates' door the day after his team loses this weekend.

Chicago public league guy from whitney young
transformed a program that had been dead for a decade into a Tourney team in 2 years
good recruiting ties in the east as a long time assistant at Florida State
midwest ties as an assistant at marquette

I imagine the public league coaches would be very please with this as he is young enough for the old guys to remember him playing and the young guys to have known him

I'm pretty sure the first job interview is going to go to Dave Leitao.

Go after the lead recruiter from Illinois.

If you're talking about Orlando Antigua, he had a pretty piss poor record at USF. I'd rather see them hire Gates or see if they can hire Moser away from Loyola, if for no other reason than to reestablish the Chicago basketball pecking order.

I don't care about college basketball until the tournament.

I just don't get how Loyola can be good and DePaul has sucked for 20 or 30 years. Makes no sense to me.

I know they play in the Big East. Tougher conference. Got it.

I'm not saying DePaul should be a dominate program. But you would think a Chicago college like them should make the tourney like 1 out of 3 years at least. They never fucking make the tourney.

I could give a shit. I really don't care. It just comes to my mind when I watch the selection show and realize that fucking DePaul didn't get in again.
