Beaches in the Turks is the best we have been to. You won't get sick of the restaurants, which is the typical problem with all inclusives. The water park is decent but well behind Atlantis.

We are hitting the Hard Rock this year in Punta Cana.

They were bought by somebody, who is renovating the place and changing the name.

Caribbean. The place is the best all inclusive. If you have to pick one resort, go Atlantis. But for all inclusive, this place is great.

I'd be interested in hearing about Hard Rock after you go.

Many all inclusive are designed for massive eating and drinking. Sometimes you can save money by just buying alcohol on the way to the resort or a local place and staying at a normal plave for families.

Where do you want to go?

Looking at Mexico or the Caribbean. We've never done a trip like this and am just looking for the easiest, most hassle free way of going about it (which is why we were thinking all-inclusive). Has anyone done the Funjet or Apple thing?

Our last vacation I ended up booking through the Vacations to Go website. It was cheaper than many of the other ways to do it AND I ended up with a guy that I could contact at any time as my guy for all details, questions etc. I really liked going to them after I exhausted all my own work.

Anyway, I assume part of their way to provide a deal is they must fill in openings of other providers. In the end we had no idea but actually ended up with an Apple vacation. So to that end Apple was awesome. Charter flight that will leave early if everyone is there early. I would say that from the person greeting us at the departing airport door just about through the flight and the transfer to the resort and all the way back home there was not a single hitch. Another advantage was at the resort. We had an Apple guy that was there every day to book excursions and all that if we wanted. It helped to avoid the gaggle of other providers and just trust/use the one guy.

If the budget works then Atlantis is awesome. You can bring drinks to the pool as they have at least one store right off property. Food isn't included unless they have a package. The activities are awesome and as good as any waterpark you'll go to.

You sometimes get cruise ship people acting like savages for a few hours but it isn't too bad.

Hah, yeah it is the best all inclusive.

And Rick is dead on about Atlantis. We did the meal package, which gives you breakfast and dinner. There is a store right off the marina. Restaurants are all good. Best waterpark ever. The only downside is lack of an all inclusive package...

If you're looking for something more value priced, try Iberostar Paraiso in Playa del Carmen (Cancun basically). That's where we took the kids for our first all inclusive. Then you can see if the family likes the all inclusive model.

We like all inclusives because the kids are always hungry, always thirsty, and it just makes it easy to grab stuff at ala carte places and swim up bars. Whenever we go somewhere without all inclusive, it is a pain to plan meals.

I've never done an all inclusive but on those types of vacations I think the first step is to find a location from which you can fly direct from Chicago. Layovers with kids sucks.

This is something I didn't point out before. With that Apple charter flight on Allegiant it was direct and full of people from this area going on vacation. Very different than commercial and in ways better. But nothing was better than leaving here at 6:30 and being in Cancun at 9:30am and no connection or other BS.
