anyone else going?

I have Waldron Deck parking and will be tailgating if you would like to stop by. My boy is going to be there with me but he is old enough to take care of himself should any of you have questionable proclivities.

I may have to break out the Butkus jersey for a rear off season appearance because it wouldn't seem appropriate to be at Soldier Field without it.

and fuck you hipster U2 haters.

I hope all these conversations haven't scared off people from meeting. I would hate to think someone would be afraid to say hi and then I later learned that outside is America.

not a lot of opportunities to take a pee break with Joshua Tree so I will have to go before. If we end up standing next to each other at the urinals I hope not to trip through your wire.

my boy told me U2 is a hated band or some such nonsense. I told him "I promise you those Beverly kids are singing U2 songs into their Budweiser bottles with a bit of an irish brogue at basement parties just as they did 30 years ago."

In my expert opinion, U2 essentially blows.

Some friends will be meeting up to tailgate. One is a single woman who is a big earner and is great at cooking if any of you single guys would like to show.

Nope, U2 in the '80s was terrific and hugely influential, mostly due to the addition of Brian Eno in the creative process (see also: Talking Heads, David Bowie). If you want to say How to Dismantle an Atomic Bomb mostly sucked, I won't dispute it, but denying how great they were is willfully obtuse and always comes down to the same old "durr bono is annyoing" crap. "Where the Streets Have No Name" is a landmark in album openers; deal with it.

I'm not all that keen on Joshua Tree era U2. but great band otherwise.

I wish Rattle and Hum had been a straight studio album instead of a patchwork of new music, covers, live songs, and pretentious chatter. Could have been a classic like the albums before and after it. I wish I could find a copy of "Van Diemen's Land" without the applause fadeout at the beginning and the interview clip at the end. Ruined it.

Always found it weird how "God Part II" was basically an Achtung Baby track but "One," the song that allegedly saved the Achtung Baby sessions, would have been more at home on Rattle and Hum.

yet another concert you couldn't pay me to attend. I'll stick with my memories from seeing them at the Horizon during the Joshua Tree tour when they were still relevant and good.

They are still excellent live and this tour is no different. Saw them earlier -- great show.

Only issue - watching them post pictures of Michelle Obama and Hillary Clinton with women who actually have changed the world. Other than that, great show. Lumineers were also excellent.

Going Sunday. Also going to Petty. Which means two concerts this summer which is one more than typical.

I don't count American English at Arlington Heights Frontier Days, an annual event for us, because it's free and just a short bike ride from home.
