Twelve Bars of Christmas

A young, recent college grad 22 year old Dan did this. After the 3rd person who was puking no more than 5 feet away from me, I swore it off. Just awful. Crowded. Expensive. Lots of Ryan Braun shirt wearing dbags

Next post is #9000, Dan. Don't let us down.

Maybe I'll do this next year. It would give me a reason to wear my Rick Ankiel shirtsey.

Well, sure, I don't mind a world tour type of night. I don't really get into the huge group all moving as one lemming mentality.

The issue with T-Box is by 10am you can't move.

And by 9am, some people are already falling down drunk. By 10am, most people are.

I wouldn't even think bartenders like this event.

I read about a sober guy that live-tweeted this year's event. He claims tickets are $45. Where are you guys getting the $100 figure from?

Yes, a lot of dick behavior but pretty much every bar looks like the pic biggie posted. That's great money for a Saturday where army/navy is the only college ball.

No doubt.

Since these saps are paying for the right to go to a bar and buy booze, I'm sure they are not tipping at all.

The bars cant even hold enough beer for this event, so Bud light and Goose had trucks in the cubby Bear parking lot supplying cases to the bars who needed more product.

Maybe this is a sign the event has become too big?

its not really a pub crawl. Just an all you can drink thing for $100 ticket that you wear like a "VIP"...and your are supposed to bring a gift wrapped toy (charity)...Thus T BOX theme.. Toy Box

12 bars of Christmas bar crawl. Its pretty much hell on earth from what I have seen and heard.

my guess would be the twelve bars of x-mas, as that seems to make sense (and of course you don't want to offend people who don't necessarily celebrate christmas but still dress up like santa/elves and go drinking from 8-4pm or whatever)

so if i read the thread right, you pay $100 to do this bar crawl, and then all the bars they go to are set up to ONLY cater to teh TBOX crowd so nobody else can get in unless they're part of this barcrawl? seems a bit crazy cuz i reckon that the bars all open up by 11-12 and have plenty of daydrinkers (my favorite kind of vampire) around enjoying "the retired life" or whatever.

so they must have to gouge the prices somewhat to make up for the lost revenue of their daydrinker massive....

nice hustle, especially if the bars are in on it and making sure that only people with TBOX bracelets can go to whatever bar/s between 8am-4pm or whatever. that $100 cover charge is a dealbreaker for me cuz why the fuck would i spend $100 before i can even spend 50-100/+ to get plastered lateAM/earlyPM on a fucking weekday? and then if you get where you wanna go, you gotta deal with drunk white yuppies/hipsters/whatever who might get so drunk all it takes is a little shade and you end up getting stabbed in the neck with a beer bottle at one of these stops. fuckin white people man. at least you know where you stand with black people cuz if you're on public trans and you see a smoker (crackhead) come on it's not like the secret of NIMH or anything; you know what's going on there. but when you get that ~middleaged/ish weird mostly-bald kinda-jewish looking guy with a 40 in a bag sitting on one of the bus seats with his feet up muttering to himself and you have no idea what the fuck is going on with this guy. nor do you wanna know. give him his ~10feet and don't do anything to draw his attention cuz the last thing you want is to have a conversation with that guy.

oh yeah and what exactly does the $100 cover charge pay for? the only thing i can think up is that if they're opening all the bars early and/or restricting bar access to only the TBOX people that the $100 has to be divvied out to some of these bars to make up for the revenue they're turning down by being TBOX-EXCLUSIVE for the 1hr or however long you're at each stop. IMO this seems like something people could do without the formal organizing that costs $100, but hey you get a bag and a bracelet and i'm sure they sell $20-30 t-shirts that say you were there and took part in this monumental event so that's gotta be worth it's weight in gold cuz i can picture you picking up a chick for a date and she's on teh fence about you, but then when she sees your TBOX 2014 shirt she's like "omfg you did TBOX? you're awesome..." and then she moistens up and is all ready to go because you're a REAL MAN who embraces the REAL meaning behind the holidays and therefore are an "it-getter"

-It's like 50 bucks (easy to find discount codes to make it cheaper) which is still bad
-You get a "packet" with drawstring backpack, lanyard and t-shirt
-The bars are happy as hell. College football is done until bowl season. They're St Patrick's day packed.

It's one of those things that you do once to say you did it even though it sucked. Like going to a monster truck rally or the zoo.

Fuck the zoo. With Holiday Magic the main roads around my house are terrible. Especially this weekend when the weather was nice. You had to stay the hell away from 31st St.
