went to einsteins for a bagel and coffee, every bar already packed, electronic boppy music going, people doing shots.

I have drank plenty in my life, but never have I got hammered before 11 AM.

When I owned a bar and got a buzz a few times before 12, but this dress up in pajamas, bring a toy, pay $100 for a ticket and get fucked up by 2....hmmmmmm

Every year several hundred 20-somethings (and maybe a few older people sprinkled in) dress up like elves and santa and drunks and hit all of the bars in Wrigleyville.
It starts pretty early in the morning and they get really hammered by mid-afternoon. WAY worse than an afternoon in the bleachers hammered.
And here's the kicker: They pay something like $100 for the "right" to do this - no drink specials, no VIP access to anything - they just all give Festa a $100 to puke in Barleycorn's with him after going to Cubby Bear at 8 am and on down the road....

And cereal. They pour cereal all over the damn place.

This should be in the DBOTW section. I can't imagine a more awful scene in Wrigleyville.

I shudder to think what it will look like if a World Series is ever won there.

totally different crowd would show up in the streets. Would be the same suburban kids driving to Wrigleyville like when the Hawks won destroying shit there. could not have had a more first hand witness of people parking in alleys, getting out of cabs, etc 30 minutes after they won.

The wifebeater look is a dead give away.

Tried it one time 3 years ago? It's fun to get dressed up and day drink. But too crowded and like spanky said there's no specials. We gave up after clark got really busy and just went to sheffields.

so you have to pay an upront fee to wear a wristband just to get in to the bars.... and then you have to pay $3 a pop for bud lights... not interested.

Probably more like $6 per bud light. Or more if they are the bigger aluminum bottles.
But they did all get a cute drawstring backpack that says "TBOX 2014", so they got that going for them.

I still think TBox would be worse by a pretty good margin.

Quote:
A North Side man ambushed a man in a Wrigleyville bathroom Sunday morning, according to police, stabbing him in the neck with a broken beer bottle.

Gregg Greaves, 23, was charged with one felony count of aggravated battery causing great bodily harm. Greaves, who lives on the 4700 block of North Beacon Street, stabbed the man at the Red Ivy Bar at 3525 N. Clark St., Chicago Police said.

While it’s not confirmed Greaves was in Wrigleyville specifically for the annual bar crawl nicknamed TBOX, the crime occurred during Saturday's Twelve Bars of Christmas pub crawl. It starts at 8 a.m. and continues all day.

According to the report, police were called to the Wrigleyville bar near the corner of Clark and Eddy streets around 12:30 Sunday morning. The 25-year-old victim told police he walked into the men’s bathroom when Greaves jumped out of a stall and attacked him with a broken beer bottle.

Greaves stabbed the man in the neck causing serious injuries, police said. The victim pushed Greaves away, only to be cut on the neck again, as well as his chin and hands, according to the report.

A 30-year-old bartender walked into the bathroom to find the bloody scene. After being transferred to Advocate Illinois Masonic Medical Center in Lake View, the victim was taken into surgery and is reported to be in stable condition.

Then Greaves defecated into his bare hands and started throwing his fecal matter on the floor in the processing room.

And while police confirm Greaves was drunk at the time of the arrest, things took an unusual turn when he was taken back to the 19th District Police Station on Addison Street.

According to the report, Greaves became verbally abusive to officers during processing. He started shouting obscenities and refused to wear his pants in the station.

Then Greaves defecated into his bare hands and started throwing his fecal matter on the floor in the processing room, police said.

He is due back in court Dec. 17.

Chicago cops have been known to add graphic, embarrassing embellishments to a police report if the suspect is being particularily obstinate or unreasonable. And this guy is a Purdue alum, so...

I'd like to think that even when I was in my 20s, this wouldn't be something that appealed to me. I have never really gotten into pub crawls

I don't mind pub crawls, but I like to think I can find my way to the next bar without some douchebag "organizing" it for me.
