Made my first trip there today.

First of all, the owner's name isn't even Tony, it's Vito.

They have really inexpensive sub sandwiches.

Their sandwiches are fine but nowhere near as good as Riviera or Nottoli in the Harlem/Belmont area. Prices are also ridiculously low at those establishments.

Frankie’s in Lombard is better.

Agreed. Rex on Harlem is mighty as well.

Riviera is awesome. Plus they have this bottled artichoke bruschetta topic which is outstanding.

As someone that just moved from Lombard, I whole heartedly agree.

But Frankie Sr didn't have any Pappy stories to share and he always looked at me like I was working for the feds.

Went in their once years ago and he gave me $10 too much in change. When I showed him his mistake and gave him the money back, he looked at me like I had lost my fucking mind.

Thanks for the heads up TM. I've never been in Nottoli. George was a classmate of mine in high school.

I work in the building next to the Westin -- that place is fantastic. Also love their takehome pans of chicken parm, lasagna... it is all very good. Unfortunately half of the family is carb cutting, so none of that for now I guess, but I can always go for a lunch time sub.

I always forget about Frankie's, even though my dad only lives 10 minutes away. I should order a half pan of lasagna for the freezer.

You guys are making me hope for a reason to be out west to go to Freddie's in Berwyn.

But to this thread, Tony's was just ok.

I don't think they are that comparable but they are still good. I'm trying to think of an adequate comparison of the two.

For me, Tony's is pretty convenient compared to the others. As Seacrest said, 5.99 for a 15 inch sub that is stuffed with meat makes you wonder either how they do it or how Subway gets away it

The daughters that work at Tony's are very nice and attractive.

I was a regular at Bari, Riviera and Nottoli several years ago before moving out of the area.

They are all comparable in quality, although I would rank Riviera and Nottoli ahead of Bari. Tony's ranks a couple levels below all of those places.
