I guess the key is how good is the kraut? There's a big difference between the overpowering pungent store bought stuff and the homemade kraut that has a nice and more subtle flavor.

90% of my experience is unfortunately with the crappy kraut.

has it ever been discussed on here why the fuck it takes portillo's so fucking long for either drive thru or in store? last night i had an in store takeout order of 3 hot dogs, 1 beef and cheddar croissant and a large fry. it took over 15 minutes to get my food.

It seems like they have 100 people working yet production is still slow.

i actually find their process to be quite efficient
i always add/subtract things from my burger, and not one time in all the years i've gone have they screwed it up

For the amount of business they do, their drive-thru operation is probably the best in the business.

Yeah...they do move that line along.

I remember when Rte 59 location started all the outdoors stuff...they didn't have portable credit card machines so they had to walk your credit card around to the cashier...then deliver it back when done.

Never was 100% trusting considering they'd be on the other side of the building...might hand it back to the wrong car...etc.

Merrillville IN, Homewood and Downtown Chicago locations all have done it. Those are the only three that I've dined inside so I can't speak to them all.
