After 4 attempts of trying to get into this place, finally made it on a slow weeknight and had dinner there. The food is good, but most of what I got was fried...hard to fuck that up. But the bread they give you is good french bread. I made a shrimp poboy out of my platter. I also had crawfish etouffe, which was decent. Nothing to scream about...

except the prices. Holy shit this place must be rolling in it. With the size of the place, and the average wait on weekends to be 80 minutes, it has to be killing.

It's too expensive and busy to try and make it there again anytime soon. However, I'd like to go back during the summer, again maybe on a slow week night, and sit outside. They have awesome ambiance out there.

there was one time maybe 10 years ago now, where they had all-you-can-eat-lobster at the (now defunct) Arlington Heights location on some night of the week. I think it was 49.99, and i'm not sure the Westmont location ever offered it

anyway, my ex-wife and I finally made it one night for it. We waited for nearly 2 hours before finally getting seated. The waitress comes up and first thing out her mouth is "I just wanted to let you know that if you were here for the all you can eat lobster, we're out". The look on my ex's face was priceless. Of course i was disappointed, but we had been waiting for 2 hours plus travel time, so I was hungry af and at that point, I just wanted to eat something. She was so pissed about it she refused to eat anything there and we ended up leaving

The family owned restaurants in Houston are much better. I used to really like them as the food was ok, esp. given the then modest prices.

Of course the one I ate at(once) in Westmont had me blowing chunks....literally. My wife & her friends love it though, but they're generally clueless re: food in my book.

That Arlington Heights location is everyone's favorite place now- Cooper's Hawk.

But in its former life, I never went there. I recall getting invited to go there by some fairly decent looking chick for after work drinks along with other co-workers. I was pretty sure she had bad intentions. In any case, I don't think she realized I was under aged at the time, which probably meant an embarrassing situation for me. I declined.

As an aside, I don't eat seafood in any form or fashion.

Sounds like the beginning of a Penthouse Forum story to me, not that I've ever read anything like that.

How the Hell did that Arlington Heights location ever go out of business anyway.
It was always jammed.

What might have been. Alas, I was pretty much married by 16, which is to say I married my high school sweet heart. And I wouldn't trade that for anything given the perilous state of marriage in America. I think the house behind us is particularly cursed as the second couple that moved in is well, no longer a couple. Matches the experience of the first couple. The house is two for two.

It did seem popular. And I had friends that liked it a lot.

Do you recall the old place that was kitty corner on that intersection? It was some nice, non chain family restaurant. I used to always get ribs there. It was a pre-prom/pre-homecoming dance staple for us. Hmmm, what was it called.....

i agree it's overrated when you factor in the (usually) long wait times and the high prices
but the food itself i have no issue with

Generally the Pappas branded restaurants in Houston are all solid. Pappas Bros Steakhouse is very good.

It is Red Lobster with a French name.

Perfect fare for the soulless suburbs.

This place has a 'small casino vibe' when passing it on 83.

Ever been to Lagunitas? Yeah, I know their beer is available everywhere, but it's nice getting it fresh from the source. Plus their food is delicious. My favorite Chicago brewery to visit, hands down.

Yeah, I've been there a few times. I actually went on the tour one day. And you're right, the food is really good.
