Currito, a Cincinnati-based burrito chain that features Thai-, Indian- and Japanese-inspired fillings has plans to open 10 locations in Chicago and the suburbs, according to the Cincinnati Business Courier. While ownership hasn’t shared where exactly they’ll open these locations, it looks like the first two will operate outside the city.

The first Currito opened in 2005 and the set-up is similar to Chipotle, but without the bad press from the fast-casual giant’s recent spat of health concerns. The protein choices are essentially the same. There’s even a tofu selection. The twist is diners can pick from a selection of internationally-inspired sauces. They're not quite on the level of a sushi burrito, but guests can add teriyaki sauce or Indian-style tikka masala to their burrito or bowl. Traditional burritos with salsa and other Mexican flavors are also available.

The chain has targeted college kids with locations near Xavier University, the University of Cincinnati, Rutgers University, and more. So if that provides a clue, Loyola University students in Rogers Park, DePaul University students in Lincoln Park, University of Illinois-Chicago students in University Village and University of Chicago students in Hyde Park may soon have a new place for some cheap eats. Curritos also exist in many airports, so ownership may be planning locations in O'Hare or Midway.

Currito has 22 locations, according to the Business Courier, and they’ve recently expanded into Orlando, Fla. and in Maryland, near the Baltimore-Washington, D.C. area. A message to Currito co-owner Joe Lanni wasn’t immediately returned.

I would guess that they do, but they're probably as terrible as Skyline Chili.
