Doing a really simple dish today...3 pound pot roast, onion soup mix packet, large can of cream of mushroom soup and water...8 hours later it will be falling apart and plated over some butter noodles...

Long time recipe in my family was this. But used little meatballs.

I can't quite tell if this phrasing is more like Yoda or bigfan.

 Yoda would say ...this was. I also saw it done with chili sauce rather than BBQ.

Slow cooker success!

Made turkey chili yesterday, it was really good. Even tinkered with the recipe a bit and still didn't mess it up.

Was feeling confident so took a crack at homemade cornbread. Turns out its really easy to make. Very delicious, but maybe a tad sweet for some people. Might reduce some of the sugar and add jalapenos next time.

Got my eye on some veal shank recipes for next weekend.

Did pulled chicken in the crockpot last nite. It was a little dry, but we also had it going a bit too long as we were out doing some xmas shopping. Had a good flavor though, Open Pit FTW!

I will heed your assessment since you are speaking from a wealth of experience on this matter.

I really don't know how surprised I should be that a 40+ year-old is just now learning about how crock pots work.

In fairness to shakes, he plays hockey and smokes weed. So the whole "plug in and set to low for X hours" can be a littlr difficult for him.

I mean they do employ Rachel Ray and Guy Fieri.

I'm going to whip up some chili again, but tweak the recipe by adding some italian sausage and more variants of peppers.

Italian sausage definitely increases the saltiness.

Use in moderation.

Also, make sure to drain it really well prior to adding it to the pot...

...unless you like an oil slick on top of your serving of chili.
