I was a KFC guy back in the day but switched to Popeye"s years ago because their chicken was simply better and the cook on the chicken didn't vary depending on location like it did for KFC.

That said, the Nashville Hot chicken KFC came out with about a year ago is the best thing they have ever made and blows away anything Popeye's has done.

Needless to say, I've been looking forward to the Georgia Gold (it just sounds cool too). Tried it last night. I got some tenders, some wings and some breasts (oh baby) because I wanted to try it all.

The liquid gold ecstasy is a honey mustard BBQ concoction and it smells and tastes amazing. Unlike the Nashville Hot, which is a very strong flavor with an intense heat, Georgia Gold is more subtle. It has a little sweetness followed with some heat. It's so damn good that it's hard to stop eating it. Chicken was well made and juicy as well.

With Nashville Hot and Georgia Gold, KFC is stepping up their game. Good names, good advertising and most importantly, good chicken. Give it a try. I recommend the tenders for a quick lunch. If you have 5-10 minutes to spare, get the wings.

I usually like original but I will try these based on your review. Thanks.

The Nashville chicken is top notch.

Honey mustard, though? Is this from the kids' menu?

Yes. My favorite fast food item anywhere.

Although the Naked Chicken Chalupa is giving it a run for its money.

I'll have to try the Georgia Gold.

It's been years since I had KFC and enjoyed it. Every time it disappoints.

Same. I've been happy with Popeye's.

I prefer Popeye's myself. But the Nashville and Gold are worth trying.

Don't let me catch you knocking its pseudo-Caribbean cousin, curry mustard.

Yup. Still prefer Popeye's for regular fried chicken but Nashville and Gold are a good start to KFC's rebirth.

Went to KFC for first time in years because of this post. Got the Nashville hot chicken. It was really good but I was was very messy.

Popeye's blackened naked tenders are best for my money. KFC does vary from location to location. Two here in Shitburg. Location that is not a busy is way better than the other. I will have to try the Gold soon based on reviews here.

Thank goodness for this thread. I would have continued blowing off KFC in favor of Popeye's but I saw this and gave it a whirl. The Georgia Gold was freaking awesome. I can't wait to try the Nashville now.

Not bad, though I'd still probably prefer cajun strips at Popeye's. But much better than usual KFC fare.

KFC sides and biscuits still suck though.

Agreed. The cole slaw isn't terrible and the fries are edible, but the biscuits are like bricks and the other stuff is just not good.

This is why I have not eaten there in years, but now I do want to try the hot chicken.

I went with wedges. They were meh. Their biscuits should all be launched into space.

And Popeye's has red beans and rice, so they automatically win.
