Love it, IMO the best deep dish you can get in Chicago. Favorite go to order is large sausage and onion, we eat half and then have the other half for dinner the next night.

BUT, there is a caveat! DO NOT GET IT DELIVERED!

First off, when you order a pizza they suggest that you get it uncut. They shouldn't suggest this, they should just make it mandatory. When those pizzas come out of the oven and settle a bit, they pick up a lot of water and moisture from the tomatoes. That water settles on top of the pizza and along the edges of the crust. The first step to eating the pizza is to take paper towels and gently blot all the excess water off the top of the pizza. THen you cut it and you are good to go and your crust stays crispy.

If you cut the pizza before doing this all of the water seeps down into the pizza and turns the crust into a soggy sponge and makes it inedible. This process must be done within a reasonable time of the pizza coming out of the oven, i.e. under 20 minutes.

It is also imperative that the pizza remain level when being transported from store to house. If the pizza is tilted all of the ingredients will travel en masse to the other side of the pizza.

When you get it delivered they usually fuck up one of those steps, either they tilt the pie and you get half a pizza without ingredients or it sits in their car for 45 minutes and you get a soggy mess.

Ordered one a couple weeks ago and they cut it by accident and basically ruined the pizza. I called up and ussed them into giving me a free pizza. Had that delivered last night, took nearly 2 hours and when it arrived half the pizza was completely soggy and ruined.

From now on, its pick up and nothing else.

Deep dish sucks. Shouldn't be such a process to eat pizza.

When I order pizza, I usually ask them to not cut it. The cheese runs if it gets cut immediately after exiting the oven. And most places cut huge squares. I like to have smaller squares for the kids.

Usually I don't Get why people get carry out. Are you to poor to AFFORD delivery ? BUT with Malanatis it is imparitive. Deep dish big, TOO MUCH STUFF, wont stay on! Can only trust YOURSELF with the goods!! off course, some, FRANK??, are lazy enough to ruin a pizza just so they dont have to Go Out. Afraid to put on Clothes???

Now that Hot Doug's is closed, this is the most overrated food item in Chicago.

People choose carry out because they don't want to pay a $2 - $3 delivery fee plus tip and receive a pizza that's been sitting for 25 minutes in the delivery guy's car because you're the last stop on his triple.

I'm not a tourist, so I prefer tavern-style thin crust.

Delivery sucks when it comes to pizza.

Deep dish is a once every 4-5 months change-up for me

And oddly,my local place is better delivered. It's almost always hotter, and about the same time as if I pick it up.

A million times yes. The Libertyville Gino's doesn't slice the deep dish on carry out. They don't deliver either.

Geno's is disgusting. Easily the worst of any of the deep dish places.

I never said it wasn't good, I just said it was wildly overrated. I'm not going to pull a Vegan and say there are 50 or 100 better pizzas in the area.

Not many tourists coming out to Lincolnwood for Lou's original location which had been in business for decades before they expanded.

Lou's is a great pizza. I probably get at least one a month. Order it well done and it solves most of the soggy crust problems on delivery. I rarely dine in but that is the best option.

Lou's was always my go to deep dish pizza. But my philosophy is 9 regular crust pizza orders and go deep dish on the 10th. Randall Roadhouse's BBQ Sausage pizza is still the best I have ever had.

This is probably the best tip for a Lou's order and it beats whatever weird exercise Shakes needs to do everytime he orders a pizza.

This might be the worst thought in this thread.
