Had the spicy version today. Very good. One of the best fast food sandwiches I have ever had.

Online the debate rages -- they were even talking about it on Mac's show -- which is better, Popeye's or Wendy's?

Popeyes is vastly underrated. I just wish the Palatine store wasn’t so grimy.

I would say the Popeyes one is better.

Wendy's is the best and I don't think it's close. People have been hyping the Popeyes sandwiches for months. I finally gave them a try yesterday. I had 2 of the spicy sandwiches. I thought they were just okay. Went back today and tried the regular version. I thought it was better but not close to Wendy's.

At the price of $2.99 the bang-to-buck value of the Popeye's Chicken Sandwich is high. Good stuff.

Wendy's is still good.

I don't know if it is just here or not but Popeye's has seemed shitty to me. Just in general not the sandwich. Like they are too busy or this store is just run very poorly. Wife won't even try another location after experiences here. That is too bad as I used to like it a lot.

Popeye's. Wendy's almost always seems dry and overcooked.

One thing about Wendy's chicken sandwiches and it is not always a bad thing is they are always like lava hot. I get they make things fresh and so on but sometimes I have to wait quite a while to chomp in without caution. When starving or just craving its a pain.

The drive thru at the Popeyes out here was packed. I wondered what was going on.

I like Wendy's spicy and they are the OG, but the filet seems like it shrunk over the years...Popeye's feels like it's twice the size

The only place where Popeye's loses points here is by achieving "spicy" with a condiment as opposed to being in the breading itself. That's a fail. But overall the sandwich really is #1 in the fast food world.

I told my 15 year old daughter all about the late great Brown's Chicken the other day. That segued to "you ever heard the name John Wayne Gacy?"

How does the Popeye's sandwich compare to Chic Filet? Guy in the Tribune says Popeyes is better. That has me intrigued cause Chic Filet is really good.

Only tried it once, took one bite and then slobbered over the rest of it before putting it in the restaurant's trash bin.

reading this thread prompted me to go to Wendy's today for a spicy chicken sandwich. I dont have a Popeye's near me so I will have to take everyone's word for it, but Popeye's would have to be pretty damn good to be better than Wendy's. We do have a Culver's, and that chicken sandwich is pretty good too.

Culver's chicken sandwich isn't bad. The problem is that everything else there sucks.

Culver's sides are garbage. Awful fries. Shitty onion rings. Their cheese curds are overrated.

Culver's is great, strong disagree there. My one issue with it is the price. It can get expensive taking the family there compared to some of the other alternative's but the food is tasty.

Definitely agree on the fries, I won't order them. Not an onion ring person so no comment on that. The cheese curds are decent for fast food, I always get them instead of the other options. But, nothing wrong with skipping the sides altogether and saving room for a concrete mixer. My go to flavor is Oreo, Butterfinger and hot fudge. Most people opt for Reeses peanut butter cup over butterfinger, but that's a mistake. Reeses is a better candy no doubt, but as a flavor in a mixer it does not go well with other flavors, tends to dominate. Butterfinger is a more subtle flavor and mixes much better with other toppings while still giving that peanut butter flavor. And always get hot fudge, takes the mixer to a whole other level.

The problem I have with the concrete mixer is that it seems that every Culver's I go to does a shit job of getting it mixed in well. Oreo is my go to flavor, I like mint oreo, too.

That said, I'd rather go get a Bilzzard from DQ.
