Inexpensive texture addition to tuna and chicken salad. If you don't feel like peeling it, don't cut perpendicular to the stalk, instead make alternating diagonals ... cuts down on strings quite a bit.

And yes it can go into dressing ... a cornmeal dressing w/ sausage and fennel etc.

And just to make Reason's teeth itch ... muddle some sugar, lemon juice, and chopped celery in a cocktail shaker and Michael-J-Fox it for a minute or so. Now fill the shaker with some ice, some gin, and give it another half minute shake (like RFDC in the men's room). Strain it into a rocks glass w/ ice and a lemon twist for a garnish.

This, I agree with. However, to my original point, each "rib" or "stalk" or "piece" of celery yields three suitable wing sides. If a thing of celery has 28 celeries in it, you are looking at 84 wings you have to eat to eat a whole thing of celery. It is madness!

Celery doesn't improve chicken stock, chicken salad, or chicken shit.

Your description of the celery-infused cocktail turns my stomach.

Since we are all on stay at home duty.

Zoom - CFMB Celery Cocktail Happy Hour

Somebody with time and knowledge should schedule that.

I think it would improve chicken shit.

You went too far to make a point.

I would think a guy who likes celery would already know for sure about this!

Well, I grew up on a farm with chicken coop houses and I've never tried chicken shit. Never occurred to me.

So I will defer to you.

I picture you nibbling on a celery stick as you were typing that. I don't want to know what it was dipped in.

Pig shit, man.

You haven't lived until your alarm clock as a kid was a non-A/C farmhouse with your open bedroom window next to your neighbor's pig farm. That smell will wake your shit up to go to school....to go anywhere.

And it was a good mile away but, unfortunately, to the west of us. And it was my Dad's cousin so I couldn't complain too much.

The stench was strong with that one.

Yeah.. to the west of this house, 3/4 mile or so there is an old school outdoor hog operation. We don’t suffer from odors from there unless I’m in the field directly across the street from it. Still, could be worse. To the East there are a billion (rough estimate) confinement hogs. Warm breezes out of the East in summer on the backside of a system... yikes.

The year we moved here and got married a friend watched the place and dogs for us while we took a quick honeymoon. Liquid manure was injected directly across the street in massive quantities the day after wedding. There was no wind and it was foggy. I wanted to vomit when I smelled it as it was strong. It’s amazing that Andrea still talks with my wife.

I always chuckled when I was at UofI and the Chicago kids would bitch about the smell from the South Farms.

I mean, you could smell it, but that's nothin'.

The Hawk was referring to every woman left of Phyllis Schlafly as a female dog so incessantly that the mods had to ban it.

I also approve of Dennis Celery.

It’s mostly a background smell. I mean, when the cattle come over to the pasture behind the house it’s not a great smell but when they aerate the manure pits or spread slurry..woof.

Also... while I am firmly in the pig shit stinks camp (that’s not money I smell) I’m okay with celery. But I doubt we ever use a whole bunch before it goes bad.

One time cleaning out a holding area I dumped about 50 gallons of slurry into my lap. Got a mouthful. Doesn’t taste as bad as you’d think.

Of course this was manure from some very classy Jersey cows not a bunch of sows.
