Heading to Evanston for a concert on Saturday and looking for a local pizza place to hit up before the show. Prefer non-chains. Any Recs?

I assume you want a place that's comfortable to sit down and where you can have a drink. To me the best pizza in Evanston is Gigio's but it isn't a place like that. I would recommend Candlelite on Western. Not in Evanston, but just south of the border.

Gulliver's is another comfortable place with a decent pizza that is right on the border.

A proud member of the Burt's Burnt Pizza Family! If you're gonna do that I'd just go a little out of the way to Morton Grove and hit up Pequod's or Burt's itself.

Peaquod's is worth a trip from anywhere.

Yeah I looked a it since I've never been there before but it sounds like the wait would be a huge issue on a Saturday night.

Thanks to all for the suggestions!

is Marie's still around?

That's where my parents had their first date. Sunday was their 56th wedding anniversary.

I guess I should have researched first. Union Pizzeria is attached to the venue, gets good reviews and takes reservations. Sold!

I've been meaning to try it for a long time. My boys make it difficult to try new pizza places. We were going to go to Marie's about a month ago but heard there is no on site eating.

Try Pete's Pizza in Edgewater or some shit. Then Evanston would be up the road from there.

What concert u goin' to, and what venue?

Didn't know there were concerts in Evanston.

I like PEaquds just fine but would never make a journey to get their pie, personally. Then again I have only done the Morton Grove location. I love the idea of the caramelized crust on the thins too but I never was wowed by it or just underwhelmed... maybe it was because I had boner for a long time to try it... stupid expectations ruined a totally fine pizza.

This is blasphemy.
We live in Northern Lake County. Any time we go near the city limits, we factor in a Peaquods visit.

Yeah I like them but surely I am blasphemous because I wouldn't go out of my way.

There are times when Aurelios is a strong desire but not always but when that desire hits man it is great.

Anyone ever have Cassano's? DG or Naperville? I really like their recipes. The BQ sauce is great and it was designed with three flavor profiles, when hot, room temperature and cold. It pops in different ways at each temperature, its good. They recently got sold though and hopefully they don't mess with the recipes.
