This shit is so tough it's like chewing on shoes. Love it. Always look for the bottom shelf stuff. It's usually the best.

My oldest is a BIGFAN of jerky- always included in Christmas and birthday presents. I was picking up some twine for baling first-cutting hay and saw a huge rack of Iowa Beef jerky at my local Family,Farm and Home store- on sale from $18.99 to $14.99. I grabbed a bag of black peppered stake bites for him as a reward for helping bale hay. He refused the cash I offered, but took the jerky and shared with the others helping. Best jerky I have had! Very peppery (my fav) and soft inside/crisp outside chunks of meat. Very generic packaging, and still not worth the cost, but delicious!

Not in Long Grove and Glendale Heights.

There's a Beef Jerky Outlet in Fox Lake and in the Kenosha outlet mall. Jerky was hit or miss for the ones I've tried; though, the one spicy jerky I got was pretty intense. Not a bad place overall.

the best jerky spots ya gotta show up at the location and purchase. Any gas station/party store/non-chain grocer from about Kalamazoo north in Michigan will have better jerky of all varieties than anything you can get online or at Walgreen's. I imagine the same is true in Wisco--anywhere they do a lot of deer/elk/squirrel processing.....if you want easy to chew but mostly flavorless beef jerky to keep in your desk for an emergency lunch, Amazon's half-pound for 16 dollars is mad chewable but not a lot of flavor: https://www.amazon.com/365-Everyday-Val ... if you make it to Traverse City, Maxbauer's, Burritt's and esp Deerings Meats make and sell fantastic jerky. But most gas stations in that part of the world will have a deep freeze turned down (or is it up?) display of jerky taking up half the front of the store.
