I remember growing up and craving these snack cakes and now as an adult trying them all taste cardboard with sugar... literally have no taste to them as I assume the parent companies cut so many corners and ingredients from the original products from 20-30 yrs ago to todays chemical amalgamation of crap!

Twinkies are the worst offenders. Oatmeal creme pies are still great. I'm a sucker for limited time or seasonal flavors except for pumpkin which sucks.

I'm not even sure they make the English Walnut Brownies anymore. I can only find the Cosmic Brownies.

I think a couple things are going on with this. Clearly the standards have been lowered for these things, but also nothing is ever as great as you remember it from your childhood.

I will buy one of these (usually nutty bars) if they are on sale at menards here or there. I don't eat much of it but I can tell you they still taste pretty darn good.

We don't really have one by us but if I'm near one I'll stop. They crush a place like Jewel in terms of pricing. I don't think I'd do meat or dairy there but their shelf stuff is great. The Ace hardware by us gets different products that you don't see much. I'm not a pickle person and they get a brand called tru, I think they are unbelievable.

Hostess chocolate cup cakes don't last long in my house.

Menard is legit for snack foods

We're having a Little Debbie Day Saturday at work, everybody brings in a box to share. I look for the oddities, I don't remember ever seeing the Banana Pudding Rolls here across the lake.

Nutty Bars are a staple in our pantry, or the Aldi version, at least. All the rest are fine with a cup of coffee to wash them down.

I buy a lot of our soup at menards, half the price from Jewel or Marianos

Hostess was a part of pretty much ever meal I had outside of the house growing up. Snow-balls, Suzy q’s, ding dongs, and ho hos. Whatever the fuck they are selling now is absolute garbage. Andy Capp hot fries are still solid if you can find them.
