I think I'm back to hosting sort of. 6 maybe 10 people maybe more, but all my responsibility. Any good ideas or menus, go!

Also we've always done soup salads apps etc for CE at my aunts house. I'm not sure how I feel about it now so any ideas for that is fantastic too.

One of my older cousins took over Christmas Day from my mom back around 1980. The menu has evolved slightly from my mom and my grandmother before that, but it is pretty traditional. They have about 25-30 people depending on which kids and nieces and nephews go to in-laws that year. The youngest daughter is taking over this year as my cousin hits 70 in January, so there may be some additions this year.

Main course: prime rib w/au jus, some kind of potatoes, apricot glazed carrots, green beans roasted with a little onion in olive oil and tomato sauce, traditional Greek salad with olives and cheeses on the side.

Appetizers: chilled shrimp with cocktail sauce and another dip, grilled Italian sausage and peppers, a pizza bread thingie that I don't like because it has olives in it, potato chips and onion dip for the kids.

I just found out I am hosting Eve this year. I have always hated the Christmas Eve sit down meal. I always was and the kids are usually to jacked up to sit down for more than 5 minutes so I was thinking all small appetizer dishes.
Shrimp
The meatballs in a crockpot with chili sauce and jelly
Mozzarella sticks
Pot stickers
Nachos
A few dips
Baked mostaccioli because the kids love that
I am thinking about getting a salmon and smoking it as well - might be more than I want to spend on relatives though.
I am not really set on anything but I just want it to be easy and plenty of food so that no one goes hungry. I did chicken piccata one year and I spent the whole night cooking. I dont want to repeat that effort.

Beef Wellington always seemed like an upscale choice that isn’t overly difficult as a host

One of my nieces was married to a chef for a few years. Man that was awesome. He would make the best prime rib ever for Christmas day. But since they got a divorce our meal has been a let down

What's serving pulled pork at a party like at your house?

Do party guests just tug on your snout...or another diminutive appendage?

Order online a day or two ahead of time and schedule the pickup/delivery for a time you prefer.

Phil’s isn’t that great
It’s pizza
It’s good enough
But it’s not great at all

Got about 5lbs of Short Ribs

Plan is to grill meat to sear...

In a pan, Olive Oil (not Popeye's girlfriend) with Thyme, after a bit take carrots, celery, garlic, tomatoes, onion...blended together then into pan

cook down about 7 minutes...add some nice red wine, some for me, some for the dish, cook that down...add some stock...add the seared Ribs, simmer for 2/12 hours with LID SLIGHTLY AJAR

This is going to be awesome
